[Press Release] From October 2021, nighttime server operation, maintenance, and monitoring will be transferred to Canada.

Beginning in October 2021, Beyond Inc. will transfer its nighttime server operation, maintenance, and monitoring to Canada. As a result, the company will waive any additional fees for late-night work. By making it easier for customers to access 24/7 server support, Beyond will protect its services from various threats and improve the way its engineers work

Background of free late-night work

Servers, which form the infrastructure of IT services, are constantly exposed to various threats, such as sudden access loads and unauthorized access from overseas

With the catchphrase "Leave all your server needs to us," we have been operating, maintaining, and monitoring servers 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and to ensure that our customers' important services can run nonstop, we have a system in place where engineers are on-site even late at night to provide manned monitoring. However, when a customer requests work to be done at night (9 PM to 10 AM the following morning), we have had to arrange for a separate engineer, which requires an additional fee

In order to eliminate night shifts, we have established a new base in Mississauga, Canada, and by taking advantage of the time difference, we are now able to handle server operation, maintenance, and monitoring during the daytime in both Japan and Canada. As this eliminates the need to arrange for nighttime engineers when requesting work, we have decided to waive the additional charge. We believe that this will make it easier for more customers to use our 24/7 server support in the future

The ever-increasing importance of security measures

With the COVID-19 pandemic and the encouragement of teleworking, corporate security measures are becoming more important than ever. In the face of threats such as malicious access and information leaks, protecting services 24/7 helps prevent opportunity loss

We also believe that by reducing the amount of work our customers have to do at night, they will be able to focus on developing their core business, which will lead to the creation of better services for the world

Eliminating night shifts improves engineers' work-life balance

Eliminating night shifts in Japan not only reduces costs for customers, but also lightens the burden on engineers who previously had to deal with issues at night. By changing the domestic shift system from three to two, we will be able to resolve issues such as disruptions to daily routines and difficulty in securing private time, creating a more comfortable working environment

In the future, we will also develop services originating from Canada

Currently, our Canadian office is focused on cloud/server operation and maintenance, while also supporting local AI startups in their expansion into Asia. We are also considering collaborating with our group company, Kids Programming School 8x9 (Hack), to develop a school that provides programming instruction to children living in Canada
