■Why are we implementing this initiative now?
In recent years, the use of AI has been rapidly advancing in Japan. The adoption of AI by companies is expanding year by year, and it is being used in a wide range of areas, including improving operational efficiency and supporting decision-making. In this context, the importance of personnel who can "effectively utilize" AI, as well as those who can "implement" it, is increasing
To effectively utilize AI, it's essential to go beyond simply understanding the tools; the ability to appropriately define challenges and accurately articulate intentions is indispensable. Since AI generates output based on information input by humans, its quality largely depends on the input content. In the age of AI, thinking skills, verbalization abilities, and structured thinking, cultivated in so-called humanities fields, are becoming more important than ever
On the other hand, the reality is that there are not many places in the Kansai region where one can learn AI in a practical way. In particular, there are almost no programs that are directly applicable to practical work and are aimed at liberal arts students
Against this backdrop, we launched KANSAI AI BOOTCAMP
■What is KANSAI AI BOOTCAMP?
KANSAI AI BOOTCAMP is an organization established through a collaboration between three companies: Beyond Inc., Actobi Inc., and Scene Live Inc., with the theme of "liberal arts students x AI," and is working to cultivate AI talent in the Kansai region
We aim to provide liberal arts students with opportunities to learn engineering skills and AI applications, expanding their career possibilities, while also contributing to the development of AI talent equipped with strong communication skills and the growth of the IT industry in the Kansai region
In the future, we envision expanding the number of participating companies, aiming to provide opportunities to motivated students and for that learning to lead to new businesses and connections. KANSAI AI BOOTCAMP is the first step in that direction
■Our thoughts
"Precisely because I have a humanities background, I can make full use of AI."
This organization was born out of a regional revitalization initiative by IT companies in the Kansai region. Its starting point was a strong desire to "boost the entire Kansai IT industry by having multiple companies join hands, going beyond the scope of individual recruitment activities."
What these three companies have in common is the belief that human-to-human communication is essential to creating value in business in the age of AI. The ability to correctly understand the intentions of others and appropriately convey one's own thoughts is the foundation of all business, and its importance remains unchanged even as times change
KANSAI AI BOOTCAMP aims to broaden the career possibilities of liberal arts students by enhancing and further developing their strengths, such as critical thinking, creativity, and communication skills, through interaction with AI. Through this initiative, we aim to cultivate individuals who can not only "use" AI but also "create value" from it
■ Significance of Beyond's participation in this initiative
Our company has been operating at the forefront of IT infrastructure, with cloud server services at its core. What we've witnessed firsthand is the fact that AI is significantly changing the role of engineers. Communication skills are becoming even more important than technical skills. This is precisely the core principle that we have always emphasized in our recruitment process
Our company also develops services utilizing our own AI-generated content, and we are one of the companies experiencing the changes of the AI era firsthand. That's why we see great potential in this initiative
For our company, which has challenged itself with diverse recruitment activities up to now, this initiative is a new challenge that is an extension of those efforts. We are participating in this initiative with the aim of delivering a starting point for a relationship where companies and students learn together, grow together, and create value together, from the Kansai region
■Future developments
KANSAI AI BOOTCAMP plans to expand its participating and sponsoring companies, form a community of alumni, and develop initiatives involving universities and companies in the Kansai region, starting with a career event in June 2026
| First installment | Offline event "Humanities AI Night - AI Career Strategies for Humanities Students" to be held | This is an offline career event for liberal arts university students. A demonstration will be conducted using AI to develop a web application in 30 minutes |
| Second installment | Implementation of "KANSAI AI BOOTCAMP," a long-term program for practically training AI talent | This long-term program teaches fundamental engineering knowledge and AI applications, followed by hands-on development of a web application. It is scheduled to last three months |
■ Representative's Comment
Masahiro Haraoka, Representative Director, Beyond Co., Ltd.
"We want to create something together that we couldn't create on our own." This shared desire led to the realization of this collaboration between the three companies. We are very pleased to be able to take on this challenge together with Scene Live Co., Ltd. and Actobi Co., Ltd., IT companies that continue to take on challenges in the Kansai region
Through this initiative, we aim to provide students with new learning options that not only prepare them for job hunting but also broaden their own potential. Furthermore, we hope to create opportunities that students will look back on years later and feel were turning points in their careers, thereby boosting IT companies throughout the Kansai region and building a future where the next generation of talent can thrive
