[Satellite Office] Trial remote work in Miyoshi City, Tokushima Prefecture [First experience of rafting]
table of contents
This is Kai Fujisawa from public relations.
has been conducting remote work at a rental office in Miyoshi City, Tokushima Prefecture, as a "trial satellite office" since October 2018
I was both excited and anxious about my first attempt at working in a remote location, called a satellite office, but Tokushima Prefecture, surrounded by nature, is a very pleasant place to spend time, and I work in a quiet office with clear air. It was an easy environment to work on.
The most moving thing for me was when elementary school students walking down the street greeted me. Tokushima prefecture is a nice place...
also participated in a "rafting training" aimed at team building !
By the way, when the leaders visited the satellite office for the first time, they interviewed Ikeda Cable Network,

The laid-back atmosphere is attractive, and an IT company uses the office on a trial basis.
Day 1
12:43 Arrive at Miyoshi City, Tokushima Prefecture
After 3 hours and 43 minutes by bus from Umeda, we arrived at Miyoshi City Bus Terminal.
``Miyoshi City Regional Exchange Center Facility Manabeya (nickname) -MINDE-'' is located a 5-minute walk away
How beautiful...!
While retaining the atmosphere of good old Japan, it has a stylish cafe and meeting space.
The office space has plenty of sunlight and is a space where you can relax and work.
14:00 Lunch
At the cafe across the street, you can enjoy a healthy lunch while looking out at the mountains, so you won't have to worry about food.
Above all, the rice cooked with mushrooms was extremely delicious.
15:00 Start of work
Since I work remotely, I am always able to communicate with the Osaka office via Skype.
Therefore, our daily lunch meeting is also held via Skype.
I am in charge of day-to-day operational monitoring as a sub-person, and we communicate with each other to carry out our work.
18:00 Operation Management Division Meeting
When it gets dark, it gets even quieter outside, and the lights shine even brighter.
On the night of the first day, we held a meeting of the Operations Management Department to discuss the team's future challenges.
The purpose of this event is to use this week to strengthen the team's cohesiveness.
20:00 Move to the dormitory
After shopping for dinner, we headed to our accommodation, which was about a 10-minute drive away.
It may be hard to tell from the photo, but it's really spacious.
There is also a Japanese-style room on the second floor, which is large enough to accommodate seven people.
On this day, we decided to gather around the hot pot, so we all started preparing.
By the way, do you know what kind of work the Operations Management Department does
I myself didn't know much about what the Operations Management Department did.
So, I thought, ``Let's take this opportunity to find out more about what the Operations Management Department does,'' so I sat around a hot pot and interviewed the team.
- What exactly is a cloud?
- What kind of work is cloud operation?
- Future issues for the Operations Management Division
We have summarized what we learned about this in an article, so please take a look.

23:00 Stay up late playing board games
The next day I was going rafting on the Yoshinogawa River in the morning, but I lost track of time and was so absorbed in playing board games.
25:30 Bedtime
The first day ended with me feeling sleepy and thinking about tomorrow.
2nd day
6:30 Wake up
It's a morning with a low temperature of 11 degrees Celsius.
When I went outside, I became quite anxious, wondering if I would really be able to go into the river.
8:00 Depart for rafting training
We will head to the meeting place to meet up with the city hall staff who are running the training and other participants.
8:30 Orientation
We went to a facility on the Yoshinogawa River and first learned about things to be careful about when going rafting, how to wear a wet suit, etc.
This "rafting training" is planned by Miyoshi City and is aimed at corporate team building.
This was Miyoshi City's first attempt at such training, and it was also Beyond's first time participating in such training.
The reason why we are conducting this kind of training at the Yoshinogawa River in Miyoshi City is because this is where the first world rafting competition was held in Japan, and the people who teach us how to do it are those who have participated in the world rafting competition. These are people who have.
In order to make use of this knowledge in company activities, we are conducting a training program to measure employee communication and team improvement by moving one boat with six people.
10:00 Morning session: Going down the rapids of the Yoshino River
In the morning, we experienced the torrent of the Yoshino River.
For the first time in my adult life, I had the precious experience of being slapped by water.
Ikeda Cable Network has posted a video of the torrent, so please take a look.
The Beyond team is also shown.

12:00 Lunch break
After feeling exhausted, I eat my lunch and prepare for the afternoon.
The food I ate surrounded by mountains and rivers always tasted better.
13:00 Afternoon: Team competition at Ikeda Dam Lake
In the afternoon, four teams competed for the best time on a set course at the gentle Ikeda Dam Lake.
The course was so difficult that the boat had to curve well to pass through three gates, and if one of the six participants rowed incorrectly, things wouldn't go well.
Furthermore, the gate is approximately the same width as the boat, so if you make contact or fail to pass, your time will be added.
So, when I moved the paddle based on my desire not to lose to other teams, I ended up taking too many curves and my time just kept increasing.
In addition, if the command tower's instructions are not properly conveyed or if the role of each person is not understood, they will not be able to pass through the gate.
However, based on that experience, we had a proper strategy meeting and decided in advance who would do what at this time, and we were able to shorten the time.
The Yomiuri Shimbun covered the afternoon session and included photos and interviews, so please take a look.

By the time the afternoon session ended, everyone was exhausted (lol)
15:00 Review of training
At the end, we looked back on the rafting experience,
- What did you feel through the experience?
- What are the rules for team growth?
- Similarities between rafting and work, and places where they can be replaced
We had a discussion and each team made a presentation.
- "If you don't decide on roles and strategize as a team, you won't be able to achieve your goals."
- "If you don't listen to what those around you have to say, you'll fall apart and fail, so try to listen to what others have to say."
- “It is difficult to convey instructions unless each person understands their scope of responsibility.”
There were a variety of opinions expressed within the team, and we realized that people felt differently depending on their position on the boat.
This also applies to work, and normally there are many invisible interactions, but when rafting, you move your body and experience success or failure, so it was very easy to understand and it was easy to think about what to do. is.
If you can apply this training to your regular work, you will be able to grow as a team!
16:00 Rafting training ends
In this way, I was able to successfully complete my rafting training.
No one got hurt or drowned, and I feel like I learned the importance of working together as a team.
18:30 Return to Osaka
After returning to the dormitory, I took a breather and headed back to Osaka.
The Operations Management Department will be staying for one week, so they will continue to work on team meetings and other activities.
Although I only stayed for 2 days, I was able to fully enjoy the charm of Miyoshi City!
summary
This is a trial office, and we plan to continue working in the future to enable full-scale remote work.
Rather than maintaining the status quo, we will continue to work as a company to constantly improve our operations.
The landing training, which can only be experienced in Miyoshi City, was a valuable experience for the team.
I think it was a good training experience for BEYOND, especially since my day-to-day work doesn't involve active physical activity.
I want to actively take on challenges that I don't normally do so that I can make the company better!
