This is Nakagawa from the System Solutions Department
I attended " Google Cloud Next '19 in Tokyo
About Google Cloud Next
This is an event where you can learn GCP expertise and learn about the latest technologies
The overview is as follows:
Next '19 programs are designed to help attendees gain knowledge, insights, and accelerate their business and personal development. Through hands-on demos, case studies, and deep dive sessions, you'll experience the latest Google Cloud products and expand your technical expertise in AI, developer tools, security, and more

The exhibit
We also had a corporate booth at Beyond
Preparations for the exhibition

The installation is complete. All the novelties are ready

They showed a demo video of
their new service, " Appmill for APP it seemed like many people were more interested in the black knight being monitored than in the new service itself

session
In between exhibiting at the booth, I attended sessions that interested me
7/31
13:20~14:00
"Building a real-time dashboard of viewing data using BigQuery"
14:40~15:20
"Asahi Breweries' Challenge: Goals for Adopting Google Kubernetes Engine and How to Migrate"
8/1
13:20~14:00
"No more late-night releases! Automated GKE deployment operations and performance monitoring!"
14:20~15:20
"Introduction to Site Reliability Engineering"
16:00~16:40
"Lift & Shift to GCP - Efficient migration and optimization using migration tools"
Introduction to Site Reliability Engineering particularly interesting .
I had only had the opportunity to learn the rough definition of SRE from books and blogs, but
1. Solution Development
2. Philosophy and Way of Thinking (Engineering Approach)
3. Engineering Practices and Tools
I'm glad I was able to participate, as I learned that these are the goals of working in SRE
Besides the concept of SRE, the slide on emergency response was the one that stuck with me the most
・When dealing with systems, "things will inevitably break"
- Few people can handle emergencies well, so a process is needed
Don't panic
You are not alone and it is not the end of the world
Ever since I graduated, I've felt nervous whenever I responded to alerts or issues.
When I thought about whether even members of Google's SRE team felt the same way,
I realized that it's not good to get too worked up.
That said, I believe that a deep understanding of the infrastructure, systems, and services is essential to avoid panicking
, so I try not to misunderstand the meaning.
This was an opportunity that motivated me to learn more
about general IT knowledge and skills in order to grow as an infrastructure engineer I will also work on being able to read and write code in order to automate my work.
In other sessions, we were able to hear firsthand about companies' GCP implementation cases and the latest technologies
I heard about migration in
" Lift & Shift to GCP: Efficient Migration and Optimization Using Migration Tools Beyond is also known for its GCP migrations, and I've tried
the third-party product " cloudendure ." However,
Anthos allows you to migrate on-premise VMs as GKE containers.
Since I didn't fully understand the explanation, I'll try Anthos in my own environment.
Certification Benefits
I also took the opportunity to pick up some special benefits for GCP certified individuals.
The benefits included a dedicated lounge and a backpack, limited to 100 units each day.

It has a laptop pocket and is light to wear despite its large size, so
I immediately liked it and started using it for work.
I'm glad I was able to pass the certification before the Next event!
Afterword
It was my first time participating in a large-scale event since joining the company
I was nervous about explaining our company face-to-face to the people who stopped by our booth,
but I think I was able to confidently communicate what they were looking for and what I could offer them, based on my experience as an infrastructure engineer and the knowledge I had learned
I was
also very satisfied with the experience of hearing about new GCP services, examples of using existing services, examples of companies using GCP, and to just say it was good to participate, so I will use it as an indicator of skill improvement and in my work.
I will start by trying out Anthos
I would love to participate again next time, so I will continue to hone my skills until then
Thank you for reading this far
