[2020] Job Offer Ceremony Held! A relaxed exchange in the style of Beyond

My name is Umi Fujisawa, and I am in charge of public relations and recruitment

The 2020 job offer ceremony was held on October 1, 2019, and four new recruits participated!

These are the three things I kept in mind when holding this job offer ceremony

  1. Facilitate communication between prospective employees and staff
  2. Don't create an overly formal atmosphere
  3. Create a space where everyone can see each other's faces

I would like to talk with accepted applicants and Beyond members!

The purpose of the job offer ceremony is to deepen the relationship between the new hires and the company's employees. Therefore, everyone generally participates in both the job offer ceremony and the social gathering. If the new hires know what kind of employees they will be working with when they join the company in April next year, it will reduce their anxiety and allow the employees to prepare mentally

Wear a suit to the job offer ceremony

Not a single person normally wears a suit to work. Whether they wear a tracksuit or an aloha shirt is up to the individual. That's why at Beyond we have decided that "Only on the days of the job offer ceremony and the company entrance ceremony will we be dressed in formal attire." So, everyone only wears suits twice a year. (Hairstyles are free all year round.)

Not in a conference room, but in a casual restaurant

We prioritize a stylish venue. Sitting at a long table in a conference room creates a stiff atmosphere as people cannot see each other's faces, so we choose a layout that makes it easy to have conversations

The first half is strict and the second half is relaxed

Having a stiff atmosphere throughout the performance would be tiring for everyone and would not be like Beyond, so we made it so that we could switch our mindset between the first and second halves

schedule

  • Opening remarks, representative greetings (10 minutes)
  • Offer of employment certificate (3 minutes)
  • Self-introductions from accepted candidates (2-3 minutes each)
  • Closing remarks (5 min)
  • Break (10 minutes)
  • Group work (60 minutes)
  • Social gathering (60 minutes)
  • Closing remarks (5 min)

The first half was about 30 minutes long, and after a break, we had a lively discussion so that everyone could talk

↑The job offer certificate was presented to the employee. He has been offered a position at our company from April 2020

↑I told the accepted candidates in advance that they should limit their self-introductions to 2-3 minutes each. Everyone was nervous, but they were able to speak clearly, and I was impressed by how well they did it!!!

Discover commonalities and strengths through group work

During the group work, we discussed the ``commonalities'' and ``strengths''

The group work was led by Hamada, an engineer who graduated in 2019. He was just as nervous as the accepted applicants

↑People watch over the nervous Hamada with warm eyes

we will create four teams , with one new hire and three employees.

  1. Finding common ground Find three common grounds between the four people through self-introductions
  2. Finding strengths : Team members share their strengths

We alternated teams to discuss these two themes

Finding common ground is surprisingly difficult!

We had to really explore common ground, and even when we talked about things like "family structure," "how we spent our holidays," "school club activities," and "dreams for the future," we were all so different. We narrowed it down by asking, "Is your mother kind?" "Yes, everyone is kind"

↑This team coincidentally had one thing in common: they were all eldest sons

↑Favorite food: strawberries (I wonder if the two in the middle are real...?)

Beyond's spirit: "I will make the most of my strengths"

Among the 10 principles of Beyond's spirit "I will utilize my strengths ." This is because we believe that the ideal way to work is to work while developing one's own strengths. To ensure that everyone is aware of this, the team shared their strengths and each person found what they could be the best at within the team.

↑ Each person announced their strengths, such as "I can read English literature," "I can write backwards," "I'm good at writing short essays," and "I can run the 50m sprint in 5 seconds." There were strengths that even our company members didn't know about, and it was amazing! I think being able to write backwards is amazing

Afterwards, we had a lively social gathering

After the group work had eased the tension, we had a social gathering. We talked about our current part-time jobs, club activities, and our favorite Kamen Riders, and enjoyed the atmosphere of a regular drinking party

↑We continued to mingle at the after-party, making it a lively day

This year's job offer ceremony brought together both the Shikoku and Yokohama offices, which are rarely able to gather together, so it was a great opportunity to communicate with other members of the company!

I am even more excited to be working with these four wonderful people. I can't wait for April 2020!

↑We forgot to take a group photo at last year's job offer ceremony, but this year we were able to take one, so it was a great success
