News from Toronto Part 2 🍁 [Interview with members of our Canadian office]

Hello from Toronto!
I'm Kawa from the System Solutions Department.
It's been a month since I came to Canada, and I'm getting used to life here.

Well, for the second installment of our Canada News series, we interviewed four members of our Canadian office about the office and Toronto 🍁

Member Interview



Name: Jimmy

1. What’s good about the Canadian office?
High ceilings (open office feel).
There are all kinds of people, everyone is cheerful.
Coffee is $1.
There’s a patio in the summer.

2. The good thing about North York (near the office) is that

it's easy to get to downtown, where there are many Asian restaurants.

3. The good thing about Toronto is that

it's a pleasant place to live in the summer because of the abundance of nature.

5. What I want to do when I return to Japan:
Eat sushi on a walking tour

Name: Lily
1. What's good about the Canadian office?
I love the cute receptionist.
All the GTA (Canada office) members are kind and funny.
We all get along well
laugh every day.

2. The good things about North York (near my office) are:
Bubble tea is right in front of me. There
's a dance studio right in front of me. There's
a movie theater right in front of me.
There are lots of corgis.

3. The best thing about Toronto
is the freedom!
No one looks at me strangely even if I dance in the office during the day.
I sometimes do things like blowing bubbles, and everyone says, "Thank you for the bubbles!"

4. There are so many recommended spots in Toronto
that it's hard to choose!
Tobermory is a great place. The Grotto and Singing Sands were beautiful.
The harbor front is also lovely. Music Garden
. People either love it or hate it, but I also love Kensington Market.

5. Things I want to do when I go back to Japan:
Fishing in the ocean
Eat a ton of oysters and sea cucumbers
Go for a drive with my parent's dog
(in Canada, the waiting times are so long that it's hard to go to the hospital easily)

1. The good thing about the Canadian office is that
it's easy to communicate with everyone.
The shared spaces are stylish.
The receptionist is transferred or changes jobs frequently (although this is not a good thing).

2. What's good about North York (the area around my office)? It's
very friendly to Asians.
There are supermarkets and restaurants where you can buy Japanese food.
It's not as crowded as downtown, so it's just right.
There are lots of parks with wide grassy areas that you can walk around.

3. The good thing about Toronto is
the amazing
library service and the friendly people.
I really like it. It's really
diverse.
It's just a small difference, so it doesn't really matter.

4. Recommended spots in Toronto:
The ham section of a supermarket called Longos.
You can easily compare different kinds of prosciutto (you can do this at other supermarkets too).
Y-san's BBQ.
A delicious scone shop.

5. What I want to do when I return to Japan:
Hot Springs, Sauna & Don Quijote combo

(As mentioned in the answer, one of the great things about Toronto is the diversity not only of race but also of food)
(There are so many delicious things to eat in Toronto that the author is worried about his weight when he returns home next month)

1. Good points of the Canadian office:
Close proximity to team members,
open shared spaces,
good transportation access (direct underground connection from the station)

2. The good thing about North York (the area around my office)
the variety of restaurants and
the presence of Koreatown (the quality of the food is better than Koreatown downtown).

3. What's good about Toronto?
Everyone is different and everyone is good. Spirituality.
Cultural events like music events and movies are reasonably priced.
Comfortable summers (long days and low humidity).
People aren't fashionable at all.

: Kensington Market
, Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto Canada
, stackt market
, TIFF Bell Lightbox

5. Things I want to do when I return to Japan:
Go for a medical checkup,
go to the dentist,
eat lots of mentaiko, go on a trip to Fukuoka

(This is TK, a violinist who loves mentaiko and visited our Osaka office a while ago.)
(Toronto (I mean Canada) has a lot of music and art events. It's heaven.)
(I'm especially looking forward to the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in September.)
(By the way, I once had an uninsured toothache in Canada and it cost me $500.)
