[Internal Management] What is the Organizational Culture Committee?

table of contents
Hello!
This is Inoue, a Persian cat from Beyond Shikoku Office.
Our company has a team called "Soshibun.
" "Soshibun" is an abbreviation for "Organizational Culture Committee," and its role is to facilitate communication within the company.
So, what exactly does it do?
Socibun's main activities
- beyond lunch
- coffee break
- Luncheon
- Holding an online drinking party
beyond lunch
Beyond Lunch, as the name suggests, is a lunch for employees.
It is held once a month, with a set date and a group of around five people using the one-hour lunch break.
Our company has four bases: Osaka, Yokohama, Shikoku, and Canada.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most employees are working from home, so
Beyond Lunch is now mostly held online.
In the Canadian office, it becomes a dinner, but of course, the Canadian team members also eat together.
Alternatively, it can be held as a brunch, coinciding with the end of work hours in Canada.
coffee break
Coffee breaks are held every Friday after the lunch meeting (12:30-13:00).
Attendance is not mandatory; anyone who can participate is invited.
This was started to address the lack of communication among employees due to the increase in work from home.
During coffee breaks, rather than talking about work, employees often talk about hobbies and personal updates. Since it's just
Beyond colleagues talking regardless of department, it also helps to address the lack of communication between departments.
At Beyond, hairstyles are free, and many members dye their hair a variety of colors, so
hair is often a topic of conversation.
We talk about hair care and share stories about dyed hair.
Many people at Beyond are fans of anime and games, so we often have fun talking about those things.
Luncheon
At Beyond, we hold a lunch meeting every day starting at 12:15pm
, with everyone participating. The person on lunch meeting duty rotates between them, regardless of whether they are the president or a member. The
person on lunch meeting duty not only leads the meeting, but also
gives a speech of about 1-3 minutes based on the theme of the day's lunch meeting.
Coming up with the "lunch meeting theme" is the job of the Organizational Culture Committee.
The theme changes roughly every six months.
The current theme was decided on as a way for employees to find good points among themselves and praise each other, a "praise activity."
The lunch meeting theme is as follows:
| Odd numbered weeks (1st and 3rd week) | Even-numbered weeks (2nd and 4th weeks) | |
| Monday | My hobbies and stress relief methods | About recommended content |
| Tuesday | The person you want to say thank you to | Customer Content News |
| Wednesday | What's great about this person (and I think it's great too) | What's great about this person (and I think it's great too) |
| Thursday | Beyond's Corporate Philosophy, Mission, and Code of Conduct | Beyond's Corporate Philosophy, Mission, and Code of Conduct |
| Friday | Suggestions for improvement, what we are doing, and what we have stopped doing | Services and tools that caught my attention recently |
| 5th week | Free talk (any topic you like) | Free talk (any topic you like) |
Wednesday is the day for "praise activities," so when a speech is finished, applause naturally breaks out, creating a warm and relaxed atmosphere.
I feel that it is very important
to find and know the good points of others on a daily basis when working together When I hear other members' "praise activities,"
I can learn about good points in members that I hadn't noticed before,
and I think, "The person on duty for the lunch meeting is amazing for noticing such small details."
online drinking party
Since the coronavirus pandemic began, Beyond has been hosting online drinking parties monthly.
Recently, we randomly divided people into teams on ZOOM, selected members using a roulette app, and
spent five minutes praising the selected members' good qualities.
This was a surprisingly popular and highly popular event.
It didn't matter what they praised—appearance, personality, or anything else.
Just keep praising them for five minutes!
Our CEO, Haraoka, even said, "I wish I could get more compliments! It feels so good!" (laughs) We
also played a game called "picture chain" online.
An unexpected artist showed up, and the game became even more exciting, resulting in endless laughter.
During chat time, it became popular to transform into the opposite sex using Snapchat.
The photo shows our CEO, Haraoka.

As the night progressed, members who play instruments would sing and play.
Some even fell asleep, making it a truly free-spirited online drinking party! We
also held an online hobby drinking party.
This is an online drinking party where participants
fill out a questionnaire about "your hobbies" in advance, then form groups of around five people with the same hobbies and The categories are varied, including "anime," "outdoors," "music," "dramas and movies," and "games."
Since I often don't know about the hobbies of other members, talking with people who share the same hobbies is a new discovery. It's
good to have something in common, after all.
We have an online drinking party once a month, and it's hard for the Organizational Culture Committee, which is responsible for planning it, but
it's saved by everyone's simple words, "Today was fun!"
Finally
The Organizational Culture Committee
holds meetings several times a month to come up with various ideas and improvement proposals to ensure that the workplace is comfortable for all members.
I think that working from home will continue in the future, but
I would like to come up with various plans and make improvements to ensure smooth communication between members.
In addition to being a company that is easy to work for,
the Organizational Culture Committee will do its best, however small our contribution may be, to ensure that it is a company where members can respect each other and "it's fun to go to work!"
Growing every day, moving forward every day.
I have to update myself every day! ! !
Thank you for reading to the end.
