[Internal Management] What is the Organizational Culture Committee?

table of contents
Hello!
I'm Inoue, the Persian cat at Beyond Shikoku office.
At our company, we have a team called "Soshibun.
" "Soshibun" is short for "Organizational Culture Committee," and its role is to facilitate smooth communication within the company.
So, what exactly does it do?
Socibun's main activities
- Beyond Lunch
- Coffee Break
- Luncheon
- Holding an online drinking party
Beyond Lunch
Beyond Lunch, as the name suggests, is a lunch gathering where employees eat together.
It's held once a month, with a date arranged and a group of about five people having lunch during their one-hour lunch break.
Our company has four locations: Osaka, Yokohama, Shikoku, and Canada.
Furthermore, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, remote work has become the norm, so
online Beyond Lunches are now the main format.
For the Canadian office, it becomes a dinner, but of course, Canadian members also eat together.
Alternatively, we sometimes hold it as a brunch to coincide with the end of the workday in Canada.
Coffee Break
Coffee breaks are held every Friday after the midday meeting (12:30-13:00).
Participation in coffee breaks is not mandatory; we invite those who wish to join.
We started this to address the lack of communication among employees due to the increase in remote work.
During coffee breaks, we often talk about hobbies and personal updates rather than work.
Also, since it's a conversation among Beyond colleagues regardless of department, we believe it helps to alleviate the lack of communication between departments.
At Beyond, where hairstyles are flexible, many members dye their hair in various colors, so
hair-related topics often come up.
We talk about hair care and share common experiences of people who dye their hair.
Many people at Beyond are also fans of anime and games, so we often have lively conversations about those topics as well.
Luncheon
At Beyond, we hold a daily lunchtime meeting at 12:15, which everyone participates in.
Regardless of whether you're the CEO or a regular employee, everyone takes turns leading the meeting.
The person leading the meeting not only conducts the meeting but also
delivers a short speech of 1-3 minutes on the day's topic.
The Organizational Culture Committee is responsible for coming up with these meeting topics.
The topics change approximately every six months.
Currently, the main topic is "Praise Activities," where employees find and praise each other's strengths.
The meeting topic is as follows:
| Odd numbered weeks (1st and 3rd week) | Even-numbered weeks (2nd and 4th weeks) | |
| Monday | My hobbies and ways to relieve stress | About recommended content |
| Tuesday | People I want to thank | Customer Content News |
| Wednesday | What's great about this person (and I think it's great too) | What's great about this person (and I think it's great too) |
| Thursday | Beyond's Corporate Philosophy, Mission, and Code of Conduct | Beyond's Corporate Philosophy, Mission, and Code of Conduct |
| Friday | Suggestions for improvement, what we are doing, and what we have stopped doing | Recently popular services and tools |
| Week 5 | Free talk (any topic you like) | Free talk (any topic you like) |
Wednesday is our "Praise Activity" day, so applause naturally breaks out after each speech, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere.
when working together
I believe that finding and recognizing the good in others is very important
When I listen to other members' "Praise Activities,"
I can discover positive qualities in team members that I hadn't noticed before, and
I also think, "The person in charge of the midday meeting is amazing for noticing even the smallest details."
Online drinking party
At Beyond, we've been holding online drinking parties once a month since the coronavirus outbreak began.
Recently, we randomly divided into teams on Zoom, used a roulette app to select members, and
played a game where each person had to continuously praise the good qualities of the selected member for five minutes.
This turned out to be surprisingly fun and a huge hit.
You can praise anything—appearance, personality, anything at all.
Just keep praising for five minutes!
Our CEO, Haraoka, said, "I want more time to be praised! It feels so good!" (laughs) We
also played "picture chain," another online game. Some
unexpected artists emerged, and this game was also a lot of fun, with lots of laughter.
During casual chat time, it was also popular to use "Snapchat" to transform into the opposite sex.

As the night goes on, members who can play instruments sometimes start singing and playing.
Some people even fall asleep, making it a truly free-spirited online drinking party! We've
also had online hobby-themed drinking parties.
taking a survey beforehand about "your hobbies," then forming groups of about five people with similar hobbies
This online drinking party involves
The categories are diverse, including "anime," "outdoors," "music," "dramas/movies," and "games."
Since we often don't know much about each other's hobbies, talking with people who share the same interests has been a new discovery for us.
all worthwhile
We have an online drinking party once a month, which is a lot of work for the organizational culture committee that plans it, but
everyone's "I had a great time today!" comments make it
Finally
The Organizational Culture Committee
holds meetings several times a month to discuss various ideas and improvement suggestions in order to create a workplace where all members can work comfortably.
We anticipate that remote work will continue, and
we want to continue planning and improving various initiatives to ensure smooth communication among members.
Not only is our company a comfortable place to work, but we also want to be a company where members respect each other and look forward to
coming to work! The Organizational Culture Committee will do its best to achieve this, however small our contribution may be!
Growing every day, moving forward every day.
I must update myself every single day!!!
Thank you for reading to the end.
