[Employee Interview] Now that you have gained experience, what are your next thoughts as a team leader?

Hello. This is Miyoshi from the recruitment team.
This time, I interviewed three employees who are currently working as team leaders.

As you gain more experience, your approach to work and what you value gradually change. One example of this
might be that you become more aware of the people around you and the team as a whole, rather than just focusing on your own tasks.

The three people we interviewed this time have each gained experience in different fields and have found their own unique ways of approaching things

I hope that through their words, you can get a sense of what they think about while working on a daily basis, and get a feel for the sense of fulfillment in their work and the atmosphere of the workplace

Have there been any changes in your approach to work since you started working as a team leader?

Yes, I have. I've always belonged to a team, but I often completed my assigned tasks on my own, so to be honest, I felt more like I was working alone.
But now that I'm a team leader and in a position to support a team, I've come to strongly feel that "work can't be done alone." I'm nowworking more collaboratively with team members, supporting each other, and while there are challenges, I also feel a great sense of fulfillment.

Of course, now that I'm in a position where I bear responsibility as part of a team rather than as an individual, the weight of responsibility for my work has increased significantly.
Nevertheless, one of the things I appreciate about being a team leader is that when I encounter difficulties, I can work together with my team members to overcome them.

What do you keep in mind when building a team and mentoring younger colleagues?

What I make a conscious effort to doto acknowledge and acknowledge the good things I notice about the team members.
I look not only at the results, but also at the process and the effort that went into them, and I make sure to express my gratitude for even the smallest positive points. I hope that these small acts of appreciation will contribute to their motivation, even just a little.

Furthermore, webe more creative with how we assign roles and communicate with each person, so that we can betterutilize their individual strengths in our work. However, we're still feeling our way around to see if we're truly bringing out their full potential...

That's why we want to continue experimenting and refining our approach to build an even better team

What challenges would you like to take on as a team or department in the future?

Going forward, I want to create a team that can better utilize the strengths of each member . If we have an environment where we can develop our strengths, each individual will be able to perform better, and I believe that will lead to better service for our customers and better results for the team and department as a whole.

Also, since AI technology is constantly evolving, we want to proactively incorporate such new technologies. While entrusting tasks that can be handled by AI, we want to cherish more than ever the meticulous attention to detail and flexible suggestions tailored to the situation that only humans can provide

In this way, we aim to create a team that can provide higher value-added services by leveraging the strengths of both humans and AI

Name: Nagato
Job Title: Development Engineer
Department: Systems Development Department
Hobbies: Drinking alcohol

Have there been any changes in your approach to work since you started working as a team leader?

My perspective on results has changed significantly. Previously, I focused on individual achievements, but since becoming a team leader, I've become more conscious of the team's overall results. I'vecome to realize the importance of respecting each member's opinions and working together to achieve our goals.

My sense of responsibility has also changed. As my scope of responsibility has expanded to encompass the entire project, I've started to see things from a broader perspective. I now
have more situations where I need to consider the whole picture, such as the schedule, quality, and whether we're meeting customer requirements, so I think I've become more careful in making decisions than before.

Of course, there are times when I feel anxious, but I'm not alone, so I hope to work together with the other members, thinking things through and moving forward together

What do you keep in mind when building a team and mentoring younger colleagues?

When considering policies or solving problems, I make a conscious effort to think together with my team members rather than thinking alone

After sharing my thoughts, I make it a point to ask, "What do you think?" Ivalue actively listening to the opinions of my team members and fostering their critical thinking skills together. While
ensuring that the team's direction and core values remain consistent, I also make sure not to become self-centered, and instead focus on "how we can all think together and move forward."

I also make sure to create a comfortable atmosphere for conversation. However, I can become quiet when I'm concentrating on work or thinking, so I want to improve that as a personal challenge to ensure smoother communication

What challenges would you like to take on as a team or department in the future?

With generative AI having a significant impact on the development industry, our team is also actively utilizing it. We
are already working on building efficient development processes and streamlining operations using generative AI, but going forward, wewant to go beyond that and re-examine our existing development style, challenging ourselves with new ways of working and developing new services.

I believe it's important to think of new approaches without being bound by past methods, and to that end,I want us to move forward while exchanging various opinions, regardless of position, such as team members or supervisors.

Nakagawa-san, Sales Department

The sales department, where Ms. Nakagawa works, responsible for understanding our customers' challenges and goals, and proposing the most suitable IT services. Working in collaboration with our in-house engineers, they provide comprehensive support, including infrastructure and development.

Name: Nakagawa
Occupation: Presales
Department: Sales
Hobbies: Gaming, Fishing

Have there been any changes in your approach to work since you started working as a team leader?

To be honest, I don't really feel like I've changed since becoming a team leader.
However, when I started working at the Yokohama office around the age of 30, I was fortunate enough to have more opportunities to talk with various people, both inside and outside the company.
Through these interactions, I've been exposed to different ways of thinking and values, and received advice, which has gradually changed my own approach to work and my way of thinking.

I used to tend to view things primarily through the lens of my own perspective, but now I've started to pause and consider things from the standpoint that there are many different viewpoints. I
still have many new insights, and each time I feel like my way of thinking is being updated little by little.

It's not easy to change a way of thinking once it's established, but talking to other people often gives me new perspectives, so I want to continue to cherish those opportunities

What do you keep in mind when building a team and mentoring younger colleagues?

What I focus on changes from time to time, but right nowI value thinking about "what kind of feelings and thoughts the team members have as they approach their work."

That's because everyone has different experiences, strengths, and weaknesses, so we try to tailor our approach toeach person's current level and situation, deciding things like, "Let's have them try this task next," or "Let's have them experience this first.

Some people thrive on being given slightly challenging tasks, while others perform better by gaining experience first. Considering the right timing for each individual is something I still keep in mind

I believe it's important to get involved not just by looking at how the work is done, but also by understanding "what they're thinking about now" and "what they want to achieve."

What challenges would you like to take on as a team or department in the future?

Currently, the sales department consists of five people, including myself, excluding managers.
Even within the same sales department, each person's responsibilities and duties differ slightly. Therefore, I don't think it's necessary for everyone to be able to do the same things.

Although each of us has a different role,I believe the best team is one where everyone can fully utilize their strengths.
On top of that, I want to create a team where each person can perform at nearly 100% of their potential within their own role.

After the interview

The three individuals we interviewed work in different departments and roles, but their interviews revealed how their perspectives have gradually changed as they've gained more experience.
They approach their daily work from their respective positions, broadening their perspectives beyond their own tasks to include their teams, members, and the entire department.
These individual experiences may be what leads to a successful career at Beyond.
