[Experience AWS x Generative AI] We held a 3-day summer internship at an IT company! (Part 1)

"What kind of jobs are there in the IT industry?" "Can people with liberal arts backgrounds participate?"

For students who have such questions,
Beyond Inc. held a summer internship program for three days from August 4th to August 6th, 2026.

This internship focused on building AI chatbots in an AWS environment,
giving participants a real-world experience of what an infrastructure engineer does.

Because it was a small group setting, I was able to ask questions immediately about anything I didn't understand, and
I was able to deepen my learning in an atmosphere where I could easily talk with employees.

This program is recommended for those who have no prior IT experience but would like to participate, those who want to learn about the work of an infrastructure engineer, and those who want to experience the latest technologies

This article will introduce what happened over the three days and share the participants' impressions.
Applications for the second Summer Internship are also currently being accepted, so please read to the end.

Internship Program Overview

This internship focused on "learning by doing," and
included practical programs such as building an AI chatbot in a cloud environment using AWS.

This program is designed to be accessible not only to those interested in the IT industry or infrastructure engineering , but also to liberal arts students who want to learn about IT

Program for the day

Day 1 | Learning the basics of the IT industry and cloud computing

The first day began with self-introductions.
Initially, everyone seemed a little nervous, but through the company tour and lunch with employees, they gradually relaxed, and
conversations amongst themselves increased naturally.

From the afternoon

• Company Overview
• Cloud Fundamentals Training
• Security training
• AWS (EC2) Basic Training

We carried it out

the basics, such as "What is the cloud?" and "What role do servers play?", in
an easy-to-understand way using diagrams and real-world examples.

Day 2 | AI Chatbot Development Workshop

The second day was a hands-on program.
We actually accessed AWS and created an AI chatbot while building a cloud environment.

What I experienced was

• Set up your own server on AWS (EC2)
• Integrating generative AI into an app (Bedrock + Claude)
• Utilize cloud storage (S3)
• Basics of permission management (IAM roles)
• Creating a web application with Python and Streamlit

There were many technical terms I'd never heard before, but
the engineers supported each individual throughout the process, so I was able to work on it with confidence.

We heard comments such as, "It's difficult, but you can understand it when you try it yourself," and "Learning technology is fun," and
it was impressive to see them enjoying the learning process.

Day 3 | LAMP Environment Setup and Presentation of Results

On the final day, we attempted to set up a LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) environment, which is a fundamental learning tool for engineers

We deepened our understanding of how websites are displayed by experiencing it firsthand,
and then we summarized what we learned over the three days into slides and prepared for our presentation.

Although some seemed nervous during their presentations, each student spoke confidently, and
by the end, they were seen actively asking employees questions about the company, job hunting, and the IT industry.

Student behavior

The participants seemed nervous on the first day, but
gradually their smiles increased as they interacted with each other and with company employees.

Because it was a small class, students could ask questions immediately if they didn't understand something, and I
was impressed to see them actively tackling topics that they thought would be difficult.

They learned by accumulating successful experiences of "I did it myself."

Impressions from the internship coordinator

This summer internship emphasized "learning by actually doing things."
Many students have the impression that the IT industry is difficult, but
after experiencing it firsthand, we received a lot of feedback such as, "It's more fun than I thought," and "I want to learn more."

Furthermore, I am pleased that you were able to experience not only the technology but also the company atmosphere through interaction with our employees

We will continue to hold practical internships that will help students deepen their understanding of the IT industry
