What to do when the mount menu disappears from Windows 10
It's already been a year and a half since Windows 10 was released.
There is talk that the Creators Update will be released in April,
but many useful features were added during the Windows 10 upgrade.
I remember being overjoyed when one of them was that the ``ISO image mounting function'' would be included as a standard OS feature.
It was great that Windows 8 now allows you to write ISO files as standard, but
now that you can even mount them, you no longer need the virtual drive software you've been using for many years.
Very useful disk image tool
However, there may be some people who suddenly can't find this feature one day.
Hey there, haven't you installed any disc burning software recently? ? ?
Surprisingly, the mounting function in Windows 10 disappears when the iso file is associated with other software.
Huh? ! Where did my disk image tool go? ? !
If you look closely, the icon has changed. The image is an example linked to Wordpad.
How to fix
The fix is easy, just cancel the association.
Since it can be mounted and written to by default, our stance is that third-party software can be started when needed.
For now, right-click the iso file, open "Properties" and click the "Change" button.
Then click "Explorer"
You should now be back to normal! What do you think?
