[2020 Graduates] First 1-day internship held! Server construction experience session also available

This is Umi Fujisawa from Public Relations

following our first "CEO Meal" we held our "1-Day Internship"

is ALPSCHOOL , operated by Bewell Co., Ltd.

ALPSCHOOL brings together a variety of companies and students, and in addition to internships, it regularly holds networking events, mock interview classes, and mini-events for early selection.

Schedule for the day

  1. Message from the President
  2. Program Description
  3. Introducing Beyond members
  4. Student self-introductions
  5. Workshop
  6. Company Information
  7. Server construction experience session

In addition to representative Haraoka, Beyond's young members, engineer Teraoka and public relations officer Fujisawa, also participated

The participants included six students who had attended the recent CEO Meal, and everyone was close to each other, creating a friendly atmosphere

Workshop

One of the skills required for an infrastructure engineer is the ability to "communicate accurate information to others."

To improve these skills, we held a workshop to improve communication skills

Since it's not possible to actually respond to alerts, it's something that can be done in a game-like manner..

Yes, the "Drawing Message Game .

  1. Divide into two teams and decide the order in which people will draw pictures
  2. The first person is given a theme and asked to draw a picture in their sketchbook (time limit 30 seconds)
  3. After 30 seconds, show the picture to the second person for 5 seconds
  4. The second person guesses what the previous person drew and draws the same picture
  5. The third person repeats this
  6. When the third person finishes drawing, the others answer in order, "What picture did you draw (what was the theme)?"
  7. The team with the most people who drew the same picture as the theme wins

The key to this game is how well you can capture the characteristics of the picture given

Here are some actual drawings done by students

↑First, the first person looks at the theme and draws a picture. Can you guess what the picture is?

↑Then the second person looks at the picture, thinks about the theme, and draws the same picture. It's a little different now, isn't it?

↑The third person looks at the second picture and draws the same picture. It looks quite different from the first picture

Then, we will check what pictures the three people drew

Third person: Kappa

The second person is "Kappa"

1. Francis Xavier

...Sorry!! Both of them got the answer wrong, so they got 0 points

The students were unable to properly depict the key points of the topic and realized how difficult it is to convey what they wanted to say

Some people may have an advantage whether they are good at drawing or not, but the ability to think and act instantly, thinking, "If I just draw this, it will get across!", is also necessary at work, and if you are conscious of what to communicate to others and how to communicate it most efficiently, your work will progress more quickly

Through this workshop, I learned that it is quite difficult to communicate with other people

By the way, here's a picture that I thought was very good

Do you understand anything?

The correct answer is "Matsuko Deluxe."

However, the second person who saw this picture interpreted it as "Princess Kaguya" and got the wrong answer..

Drawing is difficult after all

Server construction experience session

With Teraoka as the instructor, each student tried to build a server using their laptop

There were a lot of unfamiliar terms like AWS, SSH, middleware, etc., so you might have been confused. (I couldn't keep up either.)

However, I hope that you understand that we live in an age where you can create a server and create your own website on the Internet in about an hour

Since a server is invisible, it can be difficult to imagine, but I hope that by experiencing building one in this way, you will suddenly remember, "I remember typing this command at that time..."

This concludes my report on my first one-day internship

We would like to continue offering internships that can be enjoyed by people who say, "I don't really know much about the IT industry, but I'm somehow interested."
