[AZ-900] I am in charge of public relations recruitment and passed the Microsoft Azure Fundamentals exam

My name is Kai Fujisawa, and I work in public relations and recruitment. I've been playing Origami King on the Nintendo Switch too much and now I have acne on my forehead

I passed the Microsoft Azure certification exam " AZ-900: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals "

▼I failed the first time… (I probably missed one question before passing)

▼The second time, I managed to pass with a score of over 800

AZ-900 is the most basic Azure certification

As long as you have knowledge of cloud concepts and Azure service descriptions, you can take the exam even if you have no practical experience

Amazingly, if you attend the free AZ-900 webinar for two days, you will receive a voucher!!

I think it's pretty amazing that the 13,750 yen course fee will be free

Information about the webinar is posted on Microsoft's official Twitter account from time to time, so if you're interested, be sure to join

This time, I will explain how non-engineers can study for the AZ-900

My specs

How to study for AZ-900

1. See the comparison article with AWS

I still had some knowledge of the AWS Cloud Practitioner certification in mind, so I first read an article comparing Azure services with AWS services to learn more about them

I was able to think of it in my head as AWS's S3 being Azure's Blob Storage, so it was much easier than understanding it from scratch

At this point, I felt that Azure had more detailed information about AI-related services than AWS

2. Attend a webinar

I attended for the voucher

To be honest, I hadn't studied at all when I took this webinar, but the instructor explained the exam scope very clearly, so I was able to easily remember things like "availability set," which I had never heard before, and the German region

We also talked about networking and security-related topics, but these topics will be covered in more depth in the exam, so I recommend reviewing them in the learning path

Read the official learning path

Be sure to read Azure Fundamentals

There are a lot of questions, but there are short questions for each module, so you can check your knowledge one by one

It's dangerous to think you understand something just by reading it, so I'm grateful that there are small questions

4. Wander around and read articles by successful applicants

I was worried that I would probably fail just by reading the "Azure Fundamentals" learning path

When I looked into what study methods other successful candidates used to pass the exam, I found a very helpful article

Article I'm grateful for #1

I took and passed the AZ-900: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals exam

The author has published AZ-900-Collection

I was satisfied after reading "Azure Fundamentals," but then I realized that there were other questions like this too!

Read this " AZ-900-Collection

Article I'm grateful for #2

[Azure] AZ-900 exam scope organized

You can be sure to read this

The exam scope is described in incredible detail

In my case, I was weak in the "Understanding Security, Privacy, Compliance, and Trust" section, so before retaking the exam, I thoroughly read through the modules listed in this article

Without these two articles I would never have passed

Thank you very much to the authors

5. Stick to Udemy

I still felt unsure about my exam preparation, as I was only solving small questions in the learning path

When I was taking AWS, I was able to pass by working my way through Udemy, so I wondered if I could pass Azure, but then I discovered this site

There are 5 practice tests, each with 55 questions

I practiced this thoroughly until I could get 90% of the answers right, and it also gave me practice reading the translated Japanese questions, which I couldn't understand

Many of the questions are similar (or the same) as those asked in the actual exam, so I think your chances of passing will increase if you take Udemy

What was learned from this study

  • I was reminded once again how amazing engineers are!
  • I realized that the type of region and pricing structure differ depending on the cloud
  • I realized that in order to design, build, operate and maintain a cloud server, it is necessary to make full use of so many services

Obtaining the certification doesn't mean I can now use Azure, but I think it was worth studying just to learn that there are so many services available just under the cloud!

I have obtained basic level qualifications in AWS and Azure, so I am currently considering which cloud I should study next

However, since my main job is public relations, I think it's about time I started studying B2B marketing properly

This is the AZ-900 passing experience story of a non-engineer!
