Beyond Co., Ltd.'s recruiting staff talks about interview points and the inside story of recruitment

table of contents
Hello, this
is Miyoshi from the recruitment team at Beyond Co., Ltd.
It's the season of melting snow.
Last week I felt the gentle spring breeze.
I like this season, but every year when I look at the things that are sprouting, I feel a sense of nostalgia for the long winter.
Now that Beyond has officially started its recruitment of new graduates, wesome tips for those of you who are applying for a job at Beyond, while also introducing some general interview tips! (Thank you for all your applications m(__)m)
If you are about to start job hunting, be sure to use this as a reference!

This is what a job interview at Beyond is actually like!
① Not just "technical ability"! We also value personality
Beyond is an engineering-focused company, but we value not only skills but also "personality" and "mindset."
For example, things like:
✅ Can you value teamwork?
✅ Do you have the motivation to think for yourself and learn proactively?
✅ Can you act honestly to help others?
During an interview, the interviewer will likely ask about anecdotes such as, "What did you learn as a student?" or "What challenges have you taken on so far?" Stories about failures are also very welcome! By talking about the lessons and learnings you gained through such experiences, you can discover elements that make the interviewer think, "I want to work with this person."
② No "stiff interviews"!
When you hear the word "interview," you might get nervous, thinking, "What if I get asked tough questions?" or "What if it's a stressful interview?" But there's no need to worry. Beyond's interviews are conducted in a relaxed atmosphere!
In fact, it's closer to a "casual conversation" where we get to know each other better.
Actual question examples
- What technology are you interested in these days?
- Have you ever contributed to the people around you?
- What do you want to do as an engineer?
- What kind of relationships do you want to build within the company?
We want to get to know you better, so please speak your true self
Useful for general interviews too! 3 points to make a good impression
This is a useful point not only for Beyond, but for interviews at any company
① Prepare thoroughly in advance!
An interview is a chance to promote yourself, but companies also want to see how interested the applicant is in their company
✅ Check the company's website and blog
✅ Understand the job description and the type of person they are looking for
✅ Think about how you can contribute
It is also important to check in advance what values the company holds dear
② Speak in your own words!
When answering questions in an interview, it is important to speak in your own words rather than preparing standard answers
For example, consider the common question, "What are your strengths?"
✖ "I have strong communication skills."(Vague)
⭕ "At my part-time job, I played a role in summarizing everyone's opinions. For example..."(Specific and easy to understand)
If you include an anecdote in your story, it will be even more memorable!
This is a personal story, but I am not good at improvising or getting nervous, so in the beginning I often prepared a script
Partway through, I switched to a style where I roughly prepared some material to talk about, grasped the key points, and then thought about what to say on the spot. That approach was far more successful.
Now that I'm in charge of recruitment, I realize how obvious those memorized lines from back then were.
③ Ask questions!
At the end of an interview, you will often be asked, "Do you have any questions?" This is your chance
For example, questions like these:
✅ "What are your strengths that other companies don't have?"
✅ "What is a typical day like for an engineer working here?"
✅ "What are your plans for future business development?"
On the other hand, it might be a bit of a waste to answer "Nothing in particular." Please feel free to ask me anything you're curious about
