Due to the influence of the new coronavirus infection last year,

Our company also does remote work/telework (work from home). (hereinafter referred to as telework)

It's almost been a year since I started teleworking,

I also feel like I'm getting used to this telework style!

In such a situation , I think there are many people who are wondering, What is the situation with telework at other companies?

This time, I would like to share with you the results of an internal survey conducted last year!

When you actually work, are there any differences from when you work in the office, and how is the work efficiency?

I've heard a lot of things, so I'd like to introduce them to you♪

First, let's take a rough look at the composition of our employees.

Roughly speaking, the structure is like this!

Is telework okay for your company?

Our company has introduced flextime, and even before the coronavirus pandemic , we have also introduced remote work system

We are working to ensure smooth and safe implementation.

Even when we initially changed to telework due to the effects of the coronavirus, there was not much confusion within the company.

Regarding measures regarding the new coronavirus [8/17~]

Is everyone working from home?

The fact that everyone is working from home means that the work that must be done in-house in order to run our business,

Since it is not completely paperless, staff may come into the office as needed, or the person in charge may come to the office for a short period of time.

However, most employees are teleworking from home, so even if they do come to work, only a few people a day will be working.

Even if someone is there, we work in an empty conference room or work from a certain distance apart.

We are taking into consideration the environment to avoid the 3 Cs and close contact with other companies.

Survey results revealed! !

While many members feel that they are satisfied with the telework style

It seems that there are quite a few members who feel that working in an office is better than teleworking.

Let's take a look at each of the reasons why we answered the way we did.

What are the good things about using telework?

・Reduced travel time (15 cases) ・Able to concentrate on work (8 cases)

・More time with family (4 cases) ・More time to do housework in between (4 cases)

・I can get more sleep (2 cases) ・I can do errands at home in my free time

・I realized what I was lacking in my work. ・Meetings can be held online, so I don't have to go out.

・Work efficiency has increased ・You can concentrate on your work because you can reduce the work of inserting data

・Be able to go to work immediately when necessary ・Be able to take breaks quickly, be able to relax, etc.

As expected, many people said that their commuting time had decreased.

I personally think it was a huge benefit to not have to spend time commuting and could use that time for other things.

In addition to that, there were various reasons such as I was able to concentrate on work and my work efficiency increased'' and `` I was able to do housework in my spare time

What problems did you have while working from home?

・Difficult to switch on/off between work and private life (5 cases)

- I don't know what's going on in other departments

・Difficult to consult about work (it takes longer to convey information than face-to-face if it is only verbally)

・Is this person there? What you have to look for once

・Lack of communication/difficult to take (5 cases)

・Understanding the status of members

・Lack of exercise (2 cases)

・The timing of asking questions, how to ask questions is more difficult than face-to-face, etc...

As expected, when it comes to working from home, many respondents said that it is difficult to switch between work and private life

We are doing a lot of trial and error to make improvements at our company, such as using chat tools.

What I feel most about is that I don't get enough exercise because I have fewer opportunities to move my body due to commuting etc. (lol)

How productive is telework?

First of all , in response to the question "How was your productivity when using telework?"

The majority of respondents agreed their productivity remains the same whether they are at home or in the office

Why do you feel your productivity has increased?

- Being able to concentrate on work and eliminating the 1 hour 30 minute round trip commute

・As travel time, etc. was cut, the number of meetings increased.

・You can reduce the amount of work involved in inserting data, so you can move on with the tasks you should be doing.

Being able to concentrate and work alone

- Considering the total commuting time and the time spent commuting , I was able to use that time for work and move on with big tasks that I hadn't gotten started on.

There are many people who share the same opinion that they are glad they used it.

You can concentrate on your work by yourself , and you can use that time because you no longer have to travel .

It seems like a big factor is a change in how we use our time.

Why do you feel your productivity has decreased?

・When I'm alone, I spend a lot of time feeling absent-minded.

・Stiff shoulders

Difficult to turn on/off

・Unable to concentrate

Communication loss has increased as text communication such as chat work has increased.

etc...

There were also some negative opinions.

From what I've heard, there are many things that can be improved by creating a better environment and improving the way you work!

As far as productivity goes, only a few people say that their work efficiency has decreased!

About mental aspects

Regarding mental health, many people said that it had not changed much, followed by people who said that it had become somewhat unstable.

Why did you feel unstable?

・I'm starting to feel tired of talking through a screen.

・Anxiety about work due to difficulty in seeking advice at work

・Stress from staying at home all the time

・I can't get sunlight because I don't go outside.

I feel lonely because I no longer have direct communication and I live alone.

・There were several times when I had something I didn't understand about work, and it took me a while to ask a question because I didn't know who was available.

I'm not unstable, but sometimes it's difficult to maintain motivation.

It seems that not leaving the house has an impact on health, rather than work...

There also seemed to be concerns about communication.

I think this is something that can be resolved both within the company and as individuals, so I think the future challenge is to consider various things!

What we are trying to do with telework

We asked each person to answer what kind of efforts they are making when working from home!

・To switch ON/OFFWear the same clothes you would wear to the office

・Wake up at the same time as when you go to work.

・Improve your posture

・Get up from your seat frequently even outside of break times to eliminate sitting time

・Creating a working environment

・If you have a wish for someone on your team, write it in the chat so that people in other departments can see it as well.

・Do not limit it to just words, such as sharing your screen as much as possible.

-Reply to chats as quickly as possible

・If you have something you want to ask, summarize the main points of what you want to discuss in advance and send it via chat.

These are just some of the opinions I have posted,

Maintaining the work environment, ensuring a change of pace and break time, switching on and off, implementing routines, internal and external communication , etc.

I thought that everyone was making various efforts and actively working on telework!

Regarding future use of telework

Approximately 90% of respondents said they would like to continue teleworking even after the new coronavirus subsides!

It seems that many people want to continue teleworking even after the coronavirus is over

In the future, there may be a need for a work environment where employees can choose to work from the office or telework depending on their circumstances and wishes.

Our company has introduced a " remote work system ", so we would like to continue to actively work from home!

 

However, as we continue to use telework,

I feel that there are various issues such as employee management, security measures, and environment construction

In order to solve these issues, we will introduce systems and establish internal rules.

We will actively consider ways to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs within the company!
