Web Services Division which plans, develops, and operates its own services is currently recruiting "server-side engineers" to help support the services

This time, we interviewed the leader of the Web Services Division about "What kind of engineers are they looking for?" and "What kind of person would be a good fit for Beyond?"

An interview with the Web Services Division, a department full of dreams

What kind of department is the Web Services Division?

-First, please introduce yourself!

Kida: I'm Kida, and I'm the leader of Beyond's Web Services Division. When I joined Beyond, I was actually a part-timer. Beyond is a company that welcomes people regardless of their background, so they asked me to become an employee, and I was assigned to a department that plans and manages new businesses. I'm currently managing the content for "Edison Reservation" and "Apmil." I also do some design work on an ad-hoc basis.

-What does the Web Services Division do?

Kida : It originally started as a new business division, and is the department that creates , plans, and manages the company's content that Beyond will distribute .

Kida: are three team members . made one part-time worker , one full-time employee, and one leader , and we are a department that is run with the help of external partners. I think it is a unique department within Beyond. We have partners in advertising and development, and we work together to move forward towards our goals.

What kind of people is the Web Services Division looking for?

Kida: Although we advertise our content as in-house, we actually do some development on a contract basis. Edison Reservation is a general-purpose system, so we take on customization orders to tailor it to suit each customer's situation. That's why we're looking for development engineers to help with this.

Kida: Thanks to you, the number of customers and companies using Edison Reservation is constantly increasing, but we need to continue to update the service features more frequently and improve its usability. This initiative also applies to Apmil . We the new server -side engineers we involved both Edison and Apmil limited areas that we haven't started on, but since this is a department that was originally responsible for planning new businesses, we would like them to be involved in creating new services from the start.

-Are there any new services that will be launched in the future?

Kida: Yes, if it's a " synergistic service" that Beyond is promoting from this fiscal year . I n't suddenly start making a matching app (laughs) . Anything is as long as there's synergy . I have a spirit of to make any idea , even if I n't know if it will sell or not , so maybe if it was " matching app between engineers and companies Beyond is struggling with right now , I might make it. This position might be suitable for someone who wants to develop a service.

Kida: Our in-house services involve developing the same service over and over again with the same members , so we for engineers with the drive focus on and develop one service , you , you'll be a very valuable person, and I think there are lots of opportunities in the Web Services Division. You won't just be a worker, and no matter what work you do, each person is a leading player, so it's easy to get a positive evaluation in this team.

What kind of person is suitable for this position?

-Is there any type of person that is suitable for this job?

Kida: Rather than " tech geek who only wants to do development , it might be better suited to people who want to be involved in the upstream processes of planning and design, or who want to be involved a little in marketing as well . I think it developing , like "I think this is better." Also, people who like analysis or competitive research might be a great fit . People who are always sensitive to new trends , I guess .

--I see, I can imagine it now . Is there a type of a good fit for you ?

Kida: Beyond just the department , you ca n't do it unless you 're a cheerful person if you're not a cheerful person, but there are a lot of cheerful people, especially in Osaka companies. So, I'm not opposed to cheerful people (laughs).

-I see (laughs) That's true

Kida: a bit difficult for people who do n't like being talked to . a company that wants to move forward by talking about everything, so I think it's better for people to have no problem with that. And of course, people who can multitask . People often talk about being motivated , but think that self- motivation comes with experience , so we do look for that right from the start .

Kida: From the beginning, I'd say the first thing we look for is " someone who can get along ." Because we're a department that can't function without coordinating with other departments and partners, connecting with people and making allies is part of the job. We also look for "someone who can act quickly." Rather than someone who needs plenty of time to think about it , looking for someone who is pragmatic and willing to give something a try. We're looking for someone who can act quickly and is willing to move on to the next thing if they fail.
