This time, we interviewed the leader of the Web Services Division about "What kind of engineers are they looking for?" and "What kind of person would be a good fit for Beyond?"
An interview with the Web Services Division, a department full of dreams
What kind of department is the Web Services Division?

-First, please introduce yourself!
Kida:I'm Kida, and I'm the leader of the Web Services Division at Beyond. When I first joined Beyond, I was actually a part-time employee. Beyond is a company that welcomes people regardless of their previous experience, so they asked me to become a full-time employee, and I was assigned to the department that plans and operates new businesses. Currently, I'm in charge of managing the content for "Edison Reservation" and "Apumil." I also do some design-related work on a freelance basis.
-What does the Web Services Division do?
Kida : It originally started as a new business division, and it 's the department that creates , plans , and manages our own content to be released under the name Beyond .して

Kida: Our team has three members . It consists of one part-timer , one full-time employee, and one leader , and it's a department that operates with the help of external partners. I think it's a unique department within Beyond. We have partners for advertising, development, and other areas, and we work together in a team to move towards our goals.
What kind of people is the Web Services Division looking for?
Kida:Although we advertise ourselves as developing our own content, we actually do some contract development as well. Edison Reservation is designed to be general-purpose, so we accept orders to customize it into a reservation system that is more tailored to the customer's situation. That's why we are looking for development engineers to fill that role.

Kida: Thanks to your support, the number of customers and companies adopting Edison Reservation is constantly increasing, but we need to continue to improve the frequency of service function updates and the usability of the service. This also applies to Apmill . We would like any new server- side engineers who join us to be involved in both Edison and Apmill . Currently, we have limited resources, so there are some areas we haven't touched yet , but since this department was originally supposed to plan new businesses, we would like them to be involved in creating new services from the startup stage.
-Are there any new services that will be launched in the future?
Kida: That's right, if it's a " synergistic service" as Beyond has been promoting since this term . We're not going to suddenly start a matching app or anything (laughs) . As long as there's synergy, anything is fine . We have a spirit of trying out any idea, even if we don't know if it will sell or not , so if it 's something like the " matching app for engineers and companies " that Beyond is currently struggling with , we might actually make it . This position might be suitable for someone who wants to develop a service and nurture it from the ground up.かっ

Kida: Our in-house service involves continuously developing the same service with the same team members , so we're looking for engineers with the drive to focus on and nurture a single service . It's a small department , so it's difficult to make content go viral, but once you establish your position, you'll be highly valued, and I think there are a lot of opportunities in the Web Services division. You won't just end up as a mere worker, and no matter what kind of work you're doing, each person is the main character, so it's a team where it's easy to get recognized.
What kind of person is suitable for this position?

-Is there any type of person that is suitable for this job?
Kida: Rather than someone who's a " tech geek who only wants to do development , " this job might be better suited to someone who " wants to be involved in the upstream processes like planning and design " and " wants to be involved in marketing a little ." It might be suitable for someone who doesn't necessarily want to be a marketer but wants to offer their opinion like "I think this would be better" while developing. Also, it might be a great fit for someone who likes to analyze things or does competitive research . Someone who is always sensitive to new trends .れ
—I see, I'm starting to get an idea . Is there a particular personality type that would be a good match ?
Kida: Rather than just as a department , at Beyond, you ca n't get by without cheerful people . It's perfectly fine if the person themselves isn't cheerful, but there are a lot of cheerful people, that's what you'd expect from a company in Osaka. So, someone who doesn't mind cheerful people (laughs).して
-I see (laughs) That's true
Kida: If you're someone who's really uncomfortable being approached , then this might be a bit difficult for you . We're a company that likes to talk things through and discuss everything thoroughly before moving forward, so we prefer people who aren't opposed to that. Also , we 'd like people who can multitask . People often talk about self - reliance , but I think self- reliance comes with experience , so we do n't expect that from the start .に

Kida:What we look for from the start is whether or not the person can get along with others. Because our department cannot function without collaborating with other departments and partners, building connections with people and making allies is also part of the job. And also, we look for someone who is quick to act. Rather than someone who needs plenty of time to think things through , we're looking for someone who is decisive and will just give it a try . Someone who is quick to act, with the attitude of "If it fails, I'll just move on to the next thing."
