News from Toronto Part 4🍁【Delicious Toronto🍔🍺】

table of contents
Hello.
I
'm Kawa from the System Solutions Department.
It was quite comfortable up until early October, but recently winter in Canada has suddenly
begun to show its true colors, and these days I just want to stay wrapped up in my futon. I'm going back to Japan soon, so I'm both sad and excited, so I asked the next person to write a report about Toronto.
Well, as in
the last article (The top photo is the festival's signature Icee.)
This time, I'll be writing an entry that will make you hungry. Please refer to it when you visit Toronto.
(As the author is a craft beer lover, there will also be some beer-related content.)
Canadian cuisine is world peace🌍
If someone were to ask me what Canadian food is like, I would probably answer, "Food from many different countries."
(Strictly speaking, when it comes to Canadian food, poutine and pierogi are often mentioned. *Pierogi seems to have originated in Poland.)
That's how deeply the immigrant food culture has permeated the country, and everything basically tastes authentic(?). Almost everything is delicious. One of
the great things about Canada is that there are Middle Eastern, Asian, and South American restaurants everywhere. It's heaven for me, too.
Greek Cuisine
Greek food
is highly recommended 🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐
▼ Salad topped with goat cheese

Souvlaki , which has a great aroma and flavor and is very light and delicious ▼

A chickpea dip Hummus *apparently originates from Middle Eastern cuisine,

etc.
It has a unique flavor that is not very familiar to Japanese people, but it is quite light and very easy to eat and delicious.
a Greektown in Toronto , and there are many Greek restaurants along Danforth Street.
It is very easy to get there by taking Line 2 (eastbound) of the TTC (train).
South America 🌮
There are many varieties, including Mexican, Peruvian, and Jamaican.
tacos🌮 , right? (?)
I love them so much I want to eat them every day. I ate at a variety of places during my stay.
There are still not many Mexican restaurants in Japan, so I hope there are more.
🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮
In Toronto, perhaps due to regional differences, there are many Mexican restaurants in
Kensington Market (As of October 20, 2023, the average price per taco is around $3-5.)
▼ Gus Tacos tacos $5/🌮

▼ El Trompo tacos $3/🌮 (set of 5🌮)

▼ The mysterious Mexican restaurant in
Plaza Latina
What shocked me about this place was that they all use cilantro as a flavoring (I don't remember it being like that, but maybe it's been around for a long time?). It's so delicious! It
's a little far from the city center, but I recommend the third place, Plaza Latina, which is like a mall. It was so Latin that I almost felt like I was in Mexico. The food was also excellent.

Also, when you think of South America, you think of Jamaican food, right? 🏝🎵Jerk
chicken is a dish
you'll often see here There's also a Jamaican restaurant on the first floor of the Beyond Office Building, which I also recommend.
▼ Oxtail (stewed oxtail) jerk rice (left) 🐂 and jerk shrimp 🦐 (right)

Oxtail dishes are almost always available at Jamaican restaurants.

Middle Eastern/Indian Cuisine 🍛
🍛🍛🍛🍛🍛🍛🍛🍛🍛🍛🍛🍛🍛🍛🍛🍛🍛🍛🍛🍛🍛🍛🍛🍛🍛🍛🍛🍛🍛🍛
The Middle East is a large region, but it's famous for curry, roti (curry wrapped in a thin naan), and
biriyani (spiced rice). The unique spices and aroma are amazing. The carelessness of the staff (in a good way) also adds to the flavor.
▼ Goat curry🐐

▼ Roti🍛 (Spinach curry🍛 Saag chicken inside)

▼ Mutton biryani🐏

As expected of restaurants run by authentic locals, most of them are Halal compliant.
In addition, the portions are generally huge. Middle Eastern restaurants in particular often serve portions that are equivalent to two meals, so takeout is often necessary.
Canada Edition 🍁🍔
🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔As
I wrote at the beginning, because Canada is a multi-ethnic country, there isn't much that can be called "Canadian food."
▼ Poutine (potatoes topped with cheese curds and gravy) is famous.

The burgers are truly excellent. They're usually generously sized and delicious, and
I recommend not only the burgers at specialty restaurants, but also the burgers at pubs. The fries are also generous,
and once you try them, you might never go back to chain burgers.
▼ Burgers from Granite Brewery (brewery and pub restaurant) 🍔

The Burgenator in Kensington Market is my personal favorite 🍔

Craft Beer Edition 🍺
🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺
It may not be well known, but Ontario, home to Toronto, is home to many breweries of various sizes.
(There are also many wineries around Niagara Falls.)
There are a huge variety of beers, from apple cider to IPAs and golden ales.
Since it was Oktoberfest time when I was there, many limited edition beers related to Oktoberfest were also available.
There are so many to choose from, it's hard to choose, but here are some of my favorites.
Granite Brewery is
a brewery and pub located less than a 10-minute walk from Eglinton Station. They serve a variety of IPAs with vibrant flavors. As mentioned in the Canada section, the food is also excellent.

▼ The Only Cafe
This unique and stylish pub, which we previously featured in our Arty Toronto article, is a pub, cafe, and hostel. There are plenty of counter seats and it's basically cash-on-delivery, so it's a casual atmosphere. It's right next to Donlands Station.

▼ They serve Ontario craft beer on tap. Although it's not a brewery, they have a wide selection, so it's hard to decide what to drink. (Image of Cider)

▼ Collective Arts
station, Spadina is probably the closest. It's about 10 minutes west of Kensington Market.
Unlike other breweries, this brewery and pub is a prominent art space. Both the interior and exterior are stylish.
The wall painting by Toronto-based artist EMILY MAY ROSE is very eye-catching. The basement event space hosts weekly music and art events.

There's a wide selection of beers, and after some hesitation, I decided on Flight (a beer bar where you can try several varieties in small quantities). Each beer is unique, and the place offers many innovative flavors you won't find anywhere else. Note that the kitchen is closed on Mondays.

▼ Bar Volo
is about a five-minute walk from Wellesley Station. This brewery and pub is located in a quiet area, one block behind the main street. It has several affiliated locations, and I'd love to try them all.
The concept is consistent, and the interior is very stylish, made of brick? Just being inside gave me the strange feeling of being transported to a movie world.

This bar also brews its own beer, and the selection includes traditional golden ales and IPAs, all of which are characterized by their robust flavors.

I can't introduce everything here
