[IT Infrastructure Training] Shikishima Housing Co., Ltd

BEFORE

  • I had little experience in the IT field and didn't know where to start
  • The IT department's staffing levels decreased, and my responsibilities expanded. I suddenly needed knowledge of networks and servers

AFTER

  • The training was customized for beginners, allowing them to acquire practical knowledge at their own pace
  • I've gained an understanding of Azure's configuration and troubleshooting points, solidifying skills directly applicable to my work

Shikishima Housing Co., Ltd., which develops detached housing and custom-built homes mainly in Osaka, Kyoto, and Shiga, had Mr. Higa, the person in charge, suddenly put in charge of network and server management due to a reduction in personnel in the information systems department. Faced with the challenge of handling practical tasks from scratch without specialized knowledge, Beyond provided support with customized training using "Server Camp for Biz". We spoke with Mr. Higa to find out how the training tailored to the participants led to increased confidence and practical skills in the workplace.

Tell us about your business

Mr. Higa: Our company is a real estate company that develops detached housing developments and custom-built homes mainly in Osaka, Kyoto, and Shiga. We value the track record we have built up while working closely with the local community, and our strength lies in our system that can provide consistent support from design to construction and after-sales service

The background behind adopting our service

Higa-san: When I first joined the company, I mainly handled internal help desk duties and PC/mobile phone kitting. However, due to a reduction in personnel in the information systems department, my responsibilities expanded, and I needed to acquire knowledge about networks and servers. Since I had only been with the company for six months, there were many things I didn't know, so I decided to take advantage of this training program to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills

The deciding factor for choosing Beyond

Mr. Higa: It all started with a referral, and I initially asked for help with server setup. While we were talking, I learned about your training services, became interested in the content, and decided to take the course

I think internal IT training is quite common, but to be honest, I wasn't aware that there was such detailed training specifically for administrators. Also, while packaged training programs are common, I hadn't heard of anything that could be customized to suit a beginner like me, and that's what attracted me to take the course

About the services I use

Mr. Higa: We received customized training at "Server Camp for Biz."
The training covered the basics of servers and the cloud, Azure network configuration, server construction, security measures, and more, all while actually operating the Azure environment.

Reasons why I'm glad I asked for it

Ms. Higa: I was very impressed by how Ms. Teraoka, who was in charge of training, patiently explained things that weren't in the materials and answered even my most basic questions until I understood them

Furthermore, I felt reassured when they provided advice on issues I was having while using Azure in my work. Before taking the training, I had many anxieties, but after actually attending, my attitude changed to a more positive one

My impressions after actually using the service

Ms. Higa: Before the training began, you conducted a thorough interview to understand my current skills and level of understanding, and then prepared training materials tailored to my needs. This allowed me to deepen my learning without feeling overwhelmed

Thanks to the thorough instruction on the fundamentals, although there are still many things I don't understand, I can now understand Azure's configuration diagrams to some extent. I'm gradually becoming able to make my own decisions about the steps involved in building a server and what to check if a problem occurs. Since I started out knowing absolutely nothing, the fact that I can now properly understand the Azure screen has given me a great sense of relief

Being able to learn by actually operating the Azure environment allowed me to acquire practical skills. The provision of a testing environment was also invaluable, as it allowed me to try out various things. Azure is a field that's difficult to study thoroughly on your own, so I'm truly grateful for this opportunity to learn it properly

To be honest, I was very anxious before starting, but as I went through the training, I started to feel more positive and thought, "I think I can do this."

While a wealth of information can be found through internet and AI searches, it's difficult to determine its accuracy, and it's also challenging to articulate what you don't understand. This training was conducted directly by experts, which ensured the reliability of the content and provided thoughtful support whenever I encountered difficulties, making it a very reassuring experience

Points that I was able to apply to my work

Mr. Higa: When problems actually occurred with Azure in the past, I had absolutely no idea what the problem was, but now I can predict where the cause might be and think about it on my own. This is one area where I feel that what I learned in the training is directly applicable to my work

What is expected of us in the future?

Mr. Higa: If there are opportunities to learn in the future, I would definitely like to participate in training in fields other than servers, or in higher-level training such as Level 2. Also, I would like to encourage people in similar positions to take part in training when they join the company in the future. For those without experience, I think it is often difficult to understand by just reading technical books, so it would be good to have training that allows them to learn in parallel with actual work and in a way that is directly related to their work
