Amazon Web Services (AWS) captures over 40% share in the cloud infrastructure market

This is Ohara from the technical sales department.

This time, I will write about the share of "cloud" as of February 2017.

AWS tops the global market share

In the IaaS cloud market, Amazon Web Services (hereinafter referred to as AWS) is leading the way,
with a market share of over 40%, or about one-third of the total.

This is slightly higher than the combined total of Google Cloud Platform and IBM Bluemix, which follows Microsoft Azure in second place

According to a study, the global cloud infrastructure services market
reached $10.3 billion in the fourth quarter of 2016 (up 49% year-on-year),
with sales increasing from $38.1 billion in 2016 to 558 billion in 2017. It is expected to reach a billion dollars.

As global demand for cloud continues to be strong,
these cloud vendors are accelerating their data center expansion plans.

AWS added 11 new Availability Zones around the world in 2016,
including four in Canada and the United Kingdom in the fourth quarter.

Microsoft has added new data centers in the UK and Germany, and
IBM has also set up a new data center in the UK,
bringing the total to 50 data centers worldwide.

Google and Oracle

have also set up infrastructure in Japan and China for the first time to anchor growth in the Asia-Pacific region

Alibaba, which holds the No. 1 market share in China with a 50% share,

has announced that it has made new data centers available in four locations: Australia, Japan, Germany, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE)

Quote/Reference: From Canalys article

The cloud market in Japan has exceeded 1 trillion yen and is expected to exceed 3 trillion yen in 2020.

In fiscal 2015, the domestic cloud services market
increased by 33.7% from the previous year to 1,010.8 billion yen, exceeding 1 trillion yen for the first time.

The migration of existing systems within companies to the cloud is accelerating,
exceeding 2 trillion yen in 2018, and is expected to exceed 3 trillion yen in 2020.

Up until now, the image of cloud security had been a barrier to adoption, but
when enterprise companies publish examples of cloud usage implementation, they become advertising towers,
dispelling the uneasy image of cloud security,
and This improved trust has led to an increase in users.

It is expected that more and more users will switch from on-premises or hosting to cloud services in the future
