we recently participated in the MSPJ Migration Competition, which is held annually by the Japan MSP Association!
It's a competition to see who can migrate the server the best
This was my first time participating, and it was very inspiring!

First of all, the cafe is beautiful
This time, the competition was held in the cafe space of NHN Techoras

Oh, the photo here is of the cafe space.
It's so beautiful and so spacious. I was simply jealous...!
About the essential competition
MSPJ Migration Competition 2017winter - connpass
The above page roughly describes the migration requirements, and the advice is to migrate according to them
Something desired
- I would like to completely transition from my current environment to a new one
- I would like to hear about what was done and the results
- When the system is shut down, we need to notify users, so we would like to be notified
- It's an old environment that I've been using for a long time, so I'd like it to be upgraded
- If possible, I would like to switch over in a way that does not affect users
- If possible, it would be great to have some documentation about the server
- If possible, I would like to be able to back up my data since I am not backing up my data at all right now
- If possible, I would like to make the system redundant as the number of users will increase in the future
- If possible, it would be great if the information necessary to hand over to a new infrastructure engineer was compiled in one place
Comments from the person in charge
- The previous infrastructure engineer left, so there was no one left who understood the system
- I've been using it for quite some time now, so the environment seems to be outdated, and I've heard that OS support will soon end, so I'm worried about security and other things and would like to do something about it
- Everyone seems to find this system quite useful, so I'll have to let them know when I switch systems
- That's right, we have a new infrastructure engineer joining us soon, so I'd be happy if I could hand over the responsibilities to him
I'll briefly explain the contents (is that okay?):
- AWS to Azure migration
- Transfer Redmine
- CentOS 5.3
- Leaving construction documents
- Leave handover documents
It was like this
Looking at the requests, I think they can be divided into things that must be migrated and things that should be migrated as "want," so I
selected and proceeded accordingly.
As for the actual results, unfortunately, I didn't win any awards.
I thought it would be a breeze, but I stumbled in unexpected places, and my lack of Azure knowledge wasted a lot of time, so it
was quite difficult.
It was inspiring
A huge thank you to everyone who helped with the operation and those who migrated the servers.
The drinks flowed freely at the get-together.
Since everyone was in the same industry, the conversation was lively.
So that's it
I've heard that the next one will be held around autumn 2017, so I'm sure I'll be able to participate from Beyond! !
But unfortunately, I'm too old to qualify! ! !
So sad.
