I'm planning to take the LPIC Level 2 exam soon, so
I attended to prepare for the exam and to review the fundamentals of Linux server construction.

Seminar Contents
the seminar I attended in MarchSimilar toBiginet Co., Ltd.was Toru Miyahara from
This time, the seminar was divided into two days, and I participated in the lecture-based portion.
The main points of the seminar were as follows:
• Linux installation
• Basic Linux configuration
• DNS mechanism and configuration methods
• Web server mechanism and configuration methods
• Mail server mechanism and configuration methods
While the book covered configuration files that I frequently encounter in my work
, I personally found the explanation of zone files used by DNS servers particularly helpful.
The detailed explanations of the file contents, as well as the way the files are written
, provided many moments where I finally understood how things worked.

This is what the seminar looked like
After the seminar
Even after the seminar ended, I tried building DNS and web servers based on the materials, and
I found it easier to retain the information than trying to figure it out on my own.
Watching Mr. Miyahara's operations and receiving his explanations
made it much clearer which parts I understood and which I didn't.
If I had taken the course last year, I
imagine I would have been so preoccupied with simply memorizing the vocabulary in the text that I
Participating with prior knowledge and experience made it much more meaningful.
Conclusion
LPI-Japan will be holding seminars mainly in Tokyo due to the number of participants, but
they are distributing materials used in past seminars (since 2009) on their official website.
From how to get started with learning Linux to methods for improving your skills as an engineer,
there's plenty of material and explanations for those aiming to obtain LPIC levels 1 through 3.
While attending in person would deepen your understanding, the handouts alone were very informative.
If you find any of the linked materials interesting, please feel free to take a look.
Thank you for reading this far.
