[CEDEC2019] Discussion about Alibaba Cloud relocation!

What is CEDEC?

In the first half, Mr. Matsui from the Business Planning Department and Mr. Arima from the Solution Architect from SB Cloud took the stage and introduced Alibaba Cloud and the contents of the game platform.

In the second half, Mr. Horikoshi, general manager of engineering from Mynet, and Sato from the system solutions department from Beyond participated in a panel discussion based on five themes.

1. Why Alibaba Cloud? What are the system issues faced by Mynet?

The challenge after title transfer is "Analysis of existing infrastructure configuration"

Because Mynet transfers and operates titles from other companies, it is inevitably necessary to operate infrastructures with different cloud platforms and design philosophies

Mynet Horikoshi: ``If we leave a black box of the configuration behind and operate, in the worst case scenario, the service may not be able to continue.We have received a great deal of cooperation from Beyond in turning everything into a white box. ”

During the analysis process, if the cloud environment has changed drastically compared to when the title was released, we can design a transition to a more sophisticated configuration, optimize quality and cost, and extend the life of the title.

2. Why did you choose Alibaba Cloud over Big3 Cloud?

Mynet Horikoshi: ``Alibaba Cloud is by far the best among the latecomers in terms of the richness of its products.In terms of cost , there is such a difference that you can still get benefits even if you relocate.''

When it was first introduced, there were some concerns from within the company regarding quality and support.

• We judged that quality is guaranteed as long as we have a global share.
• As for support, I felt reassured by the support provided by SB Cloud.
• He explained that ``Big3 was also a challenger to on-premises.''

It seems that by getting to this stage, they were able to gain understanding within the company.

3. First time implementing Alibaba Cloud. Characteristics and difficulties of Alibaba Cloud that I felt during the construction phase

Beyond Sato: ``It was my first time actually using it in a service environment, but in a good way it was built close to the de facto cloud standard, so it was easier to use than I expected.DTS (Data Transfer Service) , we were able to significantly reduce the number of man-hours and time required for migration.

4. What do you feel is the difference from other clouds and what are the benefits of Alibaba Cloud?

Beyond Sato: ``The good thing about it is that it's very stable and no different from other clouds.As is the case with MSPs, the ultimate point of differentiation from other companies is the support system.Alibaba also collaborates with SB Cloud. The support was very helpful.”

Mynet Horikoshi: `` terms of cost are great. In a good sense, I don't notice much of a difference in terms of usage. In other words, you can use it easily even if you migrate from another cloud.''

5. What to expect from Alibaba Cloud in the future

Mynet Horikoshi: `` a cost advantage.In addition, I'm looking forward to further expansion of unique products that can only come from a latecomer.I would like to see continued stable operation.''

Beyond Sato: “ the introduction of a service that has not yet been deployed in Japan.When migrating a server, the time it takes to migrate the DB and content data will have a large impact on the migration maintenance time, so we will not only use DTS but also data migration. I would be very grateful if a service came out that could help
