[2021 Graduates] Company Information Session Held! Linux Experience Session Also Included

This is Fujisawa from Public Relations and Recruitment

Starting in February 2020, we have been holding company information sessions for the 2021 graduates

▲ Nakauchi from the Technical Sales Department talks about the company's philosophy

  • What kind of company is Beyond?
  • What is a server?
  • What are operation and maintenance, design and construction, load testing, and relocation?
  • A young engineer's story: "What you should know before joining the company"
  • Let's try out Linux commands

The participants experienced everything from the basics of servers, which are essential for infrastructure engineers, to actually using commands

▲ The first meeting was held online as our representative, Haraoka, was on a business trip to Canada

Since it would be too cramped in a conference room, we gathered in the break room, and the meeting proceeded in a relaxed atmosphere throughout

One participant commented, "At other companies' company information sessions, everyone wears a suit, so I don't see anything like this." (laughs)

We are doing the event in the usual atmosphere so that people can get a feel for the Beyond atmosphere

In the first half, Fujisawa explained, "What is cloud/server-related work?"

I think most people have heard of infrastructure engineers but don't really understand them. I'm not an engineer myself, so I don't have any experience working in the field

So, when I speak to students, I think about how I can best convey to them the work of the infrastructure engineers who work in the company every day

I feel incredibly happy when students who have listened to my explanation tell me that it was easy to understand

▲ Just listening to the explanation is boring, so we had them try out some Linux commands

In the second half, we gave each participant a PC and introduced them to some Linux

▲ Miyazaki, a third-year infrastructure engineer who will become a team leader in April

Young engineers served as instructors, teaching participants everything from "What is Linux?" to "Types of commands."

I think that by typing in commands, the participants were able to get a better idea of what screens infrastructure engineers normally see and what activities they perform

[Participant comments]

I was able to learn about the company's position, the frequent company events it holds, and its corporate culture

Having someone teach me Linux in detail right next to me really helped me understand what it means to be an infrastructure engineer

Thank you so much for your kind words!!

I hope that you were able to get a feel for the atmosphere at Beyond and that you became more interested in the work of infrastructure engineers. Thank you very much to everyone who participated!
