Beyond exhibits for the first time at Google Cloud Next '18 in Tokyo!

Google Next '18

Hello. This is Kida from the Content Business Department!

Google Cloud Next '18 in Tokyo was held on September 19th (Wed) and 20th (Thu), and Beyond exhibited for the first time as a sponsor! I also participated in this event as a member of Beyond's marketing team, so I'll be reporting on the atmosphere at the venue and the schedule for the day!

What is GoogleCloudNext'18 in Tokyo?

Google Cloud Next '18 in Tokyo is a Google event where you can experience the cutting edge of cloud computing.
It was held simultaneously at two venues over two days, September 19th and 20th, with the business session held at The Prince Park Tower Tokyo and the developer session at the Tokyo Prince Hotel. Beyond exhibited at the business session venue.

GoogleNext'18 Beyond Booth

▲ The day before, we visited The Prince Park Tower Tokyo to prepare our exhibition booth and tour the venue, but the setup was done by specialized staff, so there was almost nothing for the exhibitors to do! As expected

Google Cloud Next Eve Party! Participating in the Partner Summit

After the venue was ready, the Partner Summit was held at the same venue in the evening, where we had the opportunity to network with partner companies, Google representatives, and many other stakeholders at a buffet-style party

[DAY 1] Next'18 inTokyo kicks off! A huge success on the first day!

The daily schedule for Next'18 inTokyo begins with a keynote speech from 9:30 to 11:30, followed by alternating open stage sessions in the EXPO venue where exhibition booths are lined up, and sessions in separate rooms until around 19:30

The number of visitors was so large that it seemed like the number of people who had come far exceeded what had been predicted in advance. As the keynote speech ended around lunchtime, enough snacks were prepared at the EXPO venue to satisfy all participants

Visitors can browse the booths while enjoying their favorite snacks, creating a very flexible space!

▲ There were booths set up where you could experience various cutting-edge Google Cloud technologies. A "Hands-on Lab" was held in a separate room, and Google had prepared some great gifts for participants

Many people visited Beyond's booth, and more novelties than we had planned were sold out on the first day

In front of the Beyond booth, Okazaki Ohara

▲ Although many companies were exhibiting, there was ample space between the booths. Lunch boxes were prepared for the sponsor companies, so we were able to enjoy a leisurely lunch in the separate sponsor waiting room

GoogleNext'18 Shuttle Bus

▲ Both venues are open to the public, and the shuttle buses that take you between venues are Google Next '18 compatible, so you can easily get to and from the venues even in the rain, making it very convenient when you want to head to the venue of a session you're interested in. (The hotels for the two venues are about a 10-15 minute walk away.)

[DAY 2] Beyond representative Haraoka will be performing on the open stage!

Unfortunately, it rained on the second day, but still, there were a considerable number of visitors. The open stage session on this day was the day that Haraoka from Beyond gave a talk on the best uses of stackdriver, so I went to watch it (^^)/

▲ Even before the start, more people than expected came to watch, and there weren't enough seats, so some people had to stand! Thank you!

[Next'18 in Tokyo Night] A large-scale social gathering entertaining visitors and related parties with a quiz about Google Cloud and a band performance by Google members

At the end of the second day, a large summit was held at The Prince Park Tower Tokyo, which was open to all visitors and partner companies

▲ There will be a professional band performance, singing and dancing by Google members, and events such as winning luxurious limited edition prizes if you answer a quiz about Google Cloud correctly, making for a very entertaining time

[Dogrun2018] A user group event that brought together the GCP community

Dogrun2018, a community event to promote Google Cloud Platform (GCP), was also held on the first night at The Prince Park Tower Tokyo

There are currently five GCP communities, and I am always involved in the activities of GCPUG (a user group working with Google to improve and promote GCP). Other communities include TFUG (TensorFlow User Group), FJUG (Firebase Japan User Group), bq_sushi (Google BigQuery User Group), and Kubernetes Meetup Tokyo (Kubernetes User Group)

[Google Cloud Summit '18 in Osaka] A large-scale event where you can experience the cutting edge of Google Cloud is coming to Osaka!

Google Cloud Summit '18 in Osaka will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2018! Like Google Cloud Next '18 in Tokyo, this event will allow you to experience the cutting edge of Google Cloud, and there will be many sessions, so although Beyond is not planning to exhibit this time, I will be attending

summary

Google Cloud Next '18 in Tokyo doesn't release much of its program until just before the event, so there were many things we didn't know, and as it was Beyond's first time exhibiting, we were quite confused, but once we actually attended, we were able to enjoy the generous support from Google and had no problems at all

In addition, a considerable number of people came to watch the open stage sessions at the EXPO venue, where the exhibition booths were lined up, and sessions that were missed were also streamed on YouTube, so anyone who missed any sessions could catch up later

I also visited the developer session venue, which was a little more compact than the business session venue. However, there were plenty of hands-on booths, many companies had prepared questionnaires, and there were plenty of novelties and capsule toys

GoogleNext'18 was a three-day party fest with the Partner Summit, a networking event for partner companies, Google staff, and other related parties as a pre-event, Dogrun2018, which brought together the community promoting GCP services on the night of Day 1, and Next'18 in Tokyo Night, which was open to all participants and related parties on the night of Day 2.With a large number of attendees and many hands-on sessions that were easy to understand even for those who are not yet using the cloud or are not engineers, it was an event where anyone could enjoy experiencing cutting-edge technology

If you are interested in Google Cloud or are a company that was considering exhibiting this time, why not consider participating next year?
