Hello, this is Goto from the Web Services Division
"coaching"?
I'm sure there are many people who have only heard the word
Although I was aware of the term " coaching , " my understanding of it was vague until I actually received coaching , something like, "It's that amazing thing that really cool people working at cutting-edge venture companies are really into..."
At my company, "Beyond," all employees can receive coaching as part of our employee benefits
(What a generous system!)
In this article, I, a member of Beyond who has actually received coaching, will introduce the coaching process and its benefits
personal experience, so at this stage...
"Uh, Coach... What?"
Even if you are in such a state,
This article will help you understand what coaching is all about!
Coaching is highly recommended
To start with the conclusion,
Coaching is highly recommended
Up until now, I've always thought, "I know myself best, after all."
But after receiving coaching,
I was shocked to realize how little I understood myself
In other words, for most people, there are limits to self-analysis and self-understanding that can be completed on one's own.
Therefore, I am strongly convinced that coaching can be the most powerful method of self-understanding for many people
In fact, after receiving coaching, I became clearer about what I truly wanted to do, and my motivation increased significantly, both in my work at the company and in other areas of my life
Beyond's leaders also seem to be experiencing the benefits of coaching , as follows :
Today I received coaching from Jun @Roroworks . This time, we used business coaching techniques, and my goals and what I need to do have become much clearer, and I'm incredibly motivated!
I get lazy easily, so I need someone to kick my butt in the butt, so I'm really grateful in that respect too

I had one thought after receiving coaching from Mr. Otsuka ( @Roroworks ) today
I think I tend to force my own values on others
Everyone has their own way of thinking, so I'll stop denying it
Otsuka-san always helps me out

What is coaching?

Coaching is a technique that uses various psychological techniques to give people an opportunity to ``awaken'' something
The word "coaching" might make some people think, "Oh, will I get lectured a lot...?" , but that's not the case at all
One of the key characteristics of coaching is that "the coach never gives advice."
spontaneousにself-awareness, so the coach will not intentionally guide a person's thinking based on their own subjective opinions.
In this way, coaches do not give advice, but rather support people in organizing their thoughts through active listening and questioning
Introducing Beyond's coach "Jun @ Advice Consultant"
At Beyond, we've asked Jun-san to be our coach

Jun's visual is like this

Your earsare amazing.
In context, I think it probably expresses the personality of someone who "listens very attentively."
My first impression was , "I wonder if he's good at magic tricks or something?"
Jun's profile is here
Born in Shimada City, Shizuoka Prefecture,
he grew up constantly thinking about "what people are thinking." After attending university in Canada, he entered the game industry to utilize his English skills and spent 17 years there. After negotiating soccer and movie licenses in Europe and the US, he became a smartphone game producer. He pursues the appeal of engaging content through a psychological approach, and at LINE, he has been involved in hit titles such as POP, Tsum Tsum, and Wind Runner. He later led the Japanese branches of some of the world's top gaming companies, including Wooga, King, and Supercell. While consulting for entertainment companies, he continued to study coaching and psychology in order to pursue his life's theme of "pursuing psychology," and began working as a professional coach in 2020. He already coaches over 60 people every month. He specializes in "what to do to become happy," "reducing stress and depression," and "improving relationships."

For those who are wondering, "What is coaching?"
What do you talk about in coaching?

In conclusion,coachingcanaddress any topic.
From work -related issues to romantic relationships and interpersonal problems, anything related to people's hearts is welcome.
Furthermore, the content of your coaching sessions will never be disclosed to anyone other than yourself by your coach
Therefore,it's perfectly fine to badmouth your boss.
In this way, it is precisely because of the psychological safety that ensures that what is shared is never revealed to others that one can speak to their coach as their true self , and in the process, gain new insights.
I actually received coaching
The coaching process is as follows:
First from the coach,
"Has anything good happened recently?"
"Are you worried right now?"
"Do you have any goals you want to achieve?"
These are some rathervague questionsthat are posed.
As I answer that,
So, which goal do you think is more important to you?
"You were going to die tomorrow. What would you choose to do?"
In this way, you can ask more and more in-depth questions
As you answer these questions, your thoughts will become clearer, and ultimately, you will see what you "value" and what your "core values" are
Jun-san,you're really good at asking questions like that...
I'm shy and not very good at talking about myself,
Even with a professional listener who 's supposed to keep secrets , I thought it would be impossible to tell someone I'd only met three seconds ago everything about myself. But before I knew it, about into meetingten minutesJun, I was telling him things I'd never even told my best friend. (His listening skills are truly amazing.)
It's not that I have a lot of secrets, but in everyday conversations, even with close friends, I, "If I talk about this (like complaining), it'll probably be a nuisance..." So, the fact that I can talk so honestly with you must be because of your excellent listening skills, Jun.
I feel like I can tell Jun anything I want,
"Hmm, maybe Jun and I have become really good friends?"
With that in mind, I invited Jun-san out for a meal, but shesubtly declined.
There are probably no more unreliable phrases for working adults than "We'll consider it positively " and "Let's go out for drinks again sometime!"
Various coaching techniques beyond just listening

Coaching not only helps you organize your thoughts through in-depth questioning by the coach, but it also sometimespsychological techniquesto help you become aware of your true feelings.
In my case, Jun-san told me to stand up from my chair, so I tried standing up,
"From now on, you are another you. If you were to say something to yourself sitting in that chair right now, what would it be?"
I received questions like these
You wouldn't come up with this way of organizing your thoughts on your own
Another example is, "Imagine you are the person you respect the most. What do you think that person would say to you?"
There was a way to ask questions like this
This kind of perspective is important, isn't it?
On another occasion, Jun-san told me, "Please squat down now,"
"Huh?"I thought, but I squatted down as instructed.
"From now on, youa cat. What would thatcatsay to you?"
I've even been told that
I'm very sorry, but at this time
"Whya cat, I wonder..."
I was so preoccupied with that thatI couldn't really concentrate on the coaching.
Maybe I should have said something like, "I think you're being too selfish right now."
Coaching is a mental detox

While there may be individual differences, the fact that coaching allows you to talk about anything might mean that you'll see the darker side of yourself (negative emotions) that you usually keep hidden
However, I've come to realize that by not ignoring my darker side but instead confronting it properly, I can gradually declutter my thoughts (negative emotions disappear)
When your mind is purified through coaching, you feel much lighter
Through coaching, I've come to realize just how cluttered my own mind is—much more so than I thought
Coaching Tips
The above are the benefits of coaching that I personally experienced, but there are also a few things to keep in mind when receiving coaching
Coaching Tips: 1. Don't lie during coaching
The purpose of coaching is to organize your thoughts and become aware of your true feelings , so lying during coaching may prevent you from achieving the desired results
Coaching Tips #2: You need a certain amount of willpower
One of the great things about coaching is that it helps you organize your thoughts, but it won't be very effective if you receive it without a clear sense of what you want to do in the future. I actually received coaching once when I was in that state of mind, and that time I didn't get the usual sense of clarity, insight , or exhilaration I feel. Ultimately, having your own will is important.
thank you!!!
Characteristics of people who would benefit most from coaching
: • Highly motivated
• Flexible thinking
• Future-oriented
• Considers every question and suggestion before making a decision
• Does not prioritize pride
• Takes actionNakauchi fits all of these descriptions, which is amazing every time. The same goes for Haraoka and Morita. https://t.co/U2dqO78UHW

Coaching Tip 3: Be careful not to become too coaching-minded
I don't know if this applies to everyone, but I'measily influenced, so for about a week after my first coaching session, I was completely hooked on coaching, and Ithroughunconsciouslypeopleatmosphere coachingstarted influencing
Coaching is great when done by professionals in the appropriate setting;when amateurs use it in everyday conversationannoying.
"He's always trying to coach me..." he's become disliked and stopped being invited to group dates.
I'll try to be more careful in the future so that the younger people at the company don't start calling me things like "Coaching Uncle" behind my back
How is coaching going?
What always impresses me is how much fun Jun seems to have listening to me during coaching sessions
However, sometimes you might get a reaction like, "Hmm?"
Apparently, Jun is happy with me when I realize my true feelings during coaching sessions, but when I don't, she reacts with a "Hmm?"
Then, at one point, Iasked, "How do you usually determine whether I've realized my true feelings or not?"
When I asked him,
"Well, humans are really honest after all. Ah! Look! Like that gesture just now..."
They gave me a lot of information, but I stopped listening quietly halfway through because I was worried that if I asked any more questions, I might start to dread the next coaching session . I'm sorry for wasting their time
However, this gives us a glimpse into Jun's high level of coaching skills
