[Study method disclosed] I tried to obtain the AWS Cloud Practitioner qualification even though it was a public relations job after 3 months of joining the company.

Hello, I'm Komatsu, a public relations worker, and lately the temperature has been changing so much that I can't keep up with it.
This time, as a public relations person, I have acquired the AWS Cloud Practitioner qualification, so I will explain in detail the process from applying for the exam to acquiring the qualification!
What is an AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner?
AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner is a qualification for beginners who are at the basic level of AWS. This exam will help you deepen your basic understanding of AWS cloud concepts, services, and terminology.
AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner Overview
Difficulty level | Basic level/Beginner |
---|---|
Exam candidates | AWS Beginner/Cloud Beginner/IT Beginner |

Examination fee | 12,100 yen (11,000 yen + tax) |

Why did you obtain this qualification?
・Beyond handles various cloud services, mainly AWS, and the cloud server business is its main business.
・Even if you are in charge of public relations, you should understand the company's business.
・I was simply curious about what AWS is.
study method
Plan/What I did
First, after deciding to take the exam, I announced when I would start studying.
(You can also check out the situation on YouTube Biyomaru Channel, so be sure to check it out...)
I set a study period of about two weeks, applied for the exam, and studied for it.
By the way, I am a public relations officer with no engineering experience and barely hold the IT Passport qualification.
In order to obtain this qualification, I did the following four things .
Measure 1: Read reference books
Measure 2: Use Udemy all the time
Measure 3: Watch YouTube
Measure 4: Ask a current engineer
Measure 1: Read reference books
Reference books: AWS Certification Exam Text AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
I found the reference book mentioned above among the books my company lends out, so I borrowed it from there.
I was a little worried because it was a little old from 2018, but I concentrated on reading it before going to work in the morning and engrossed it in my head.
Measure 2: Use Udemy all the time
When I asked an engineer about his recommended study method, he simply said ` Udemy,
(By the way, the price in the photo is 2,400 yen, but sometimes the price is cheaper. When I bought it, it was 1,900 yen)
I solved the problems on the train to confirm what I had drilled into my head that morning, and checked the explanations for questions I got wrong.
I'm glad that Udemy has a lot of explanations that are very easy to understand.
Practice test 1: Mock exam (basic level ①)
Practice test 2: Mock exam (basic level ②)
Practice test 3: Mock exam (real level ①)
Practice test 4: Mock exam (actual level ②)
Practice test 5: Mock exam (Real level ③)
Practice test 6: Mock exam (Real level ④)
I focused on practice tests 1 and 2, and after completing them 6-7 times, I was finally able to get a passing score of over 70 points.
Measure 3: Watch YouTube
The video I was watching was from the " AWS Certification Preparation Course " channel.
On the morning train, I was relatively concentrated, solving problems and checking the ones I got wrong.
On the train home, I skimmed YouTube. I had a hard time concentrating after work, so I took a quick look.
Measure 4: Ask a current engineer
It was a free address to ask the engineer who happened to be on a break, so I asked the engineer who was sitting next to me about the part I didn't understand.
No matter how many times I solved a problem, I kept getting it wrong, or even when I couldn't understand the difference (by the way, between AWS CloudTrail and AWS Config), I asked an engineer to explain it to me, and to my surprise, I was able to memorize it on the first try. (Current engineers are amazing...)
If you have someone close to you who can listen to it, we recommend that you listen to it more and more to clear up the parts you don't understand.
On the day of the exam
The originally scheduled test date was April 28th (Friday).
I was trying to take the exam online, but when I finished checking everything and thought it was time to take the exam, I couldn't proceed and couldn't take the exam.
The exam on April 28th has been canceled and I will be taking it on a different day.
After that, I was able to safely go to the test center and take the exam on May 8th (Monday).
And I was able to pass the exam ! ! (I barely passed...it was a close call...)
What I struggled with
① I can't imagine it because I've never actually touched it.
I had never even seen an actual AWS screen, so even when I learned about the service, it was difficult for me to get an image of it.
After the engineers actually showed me various things, I think I was able to understand them easily.
I think your understanding will deepen as you study AWS while actually using it.
② Online exams have high hurdles
If you are taking the test online, various checks will be made, including checking the internet environment and checking the location of the test using a camera.
In particular, it is extremely difficult to confirm the location of the exam as it requires viewing the screen from every corner of the room.
Therefore, we recommend that you go to the test center and take the test!
summary
As a non-engineer with no AWS experience, I introduced the study process I followed to pass the "AWS Cloud Practitioner" exam.
I obtained my qualification in about 2 weeks and about 20 hours
I believe that each person has their own study method, but I hope that reading this blog will help you prepare for the exam.
