This is Umi Fujisawa from Public Relations
, a conference for game developers held every SeptemberCEDEC2019.
We are incredibly grateful that this year,SB CloudSeiken Sato from Beyond was given the opportunity to participate in a panel discussion as part of
Session Title
"Building a gaming infrastructure with Alibaba Cloud - A conversation: Why did Mynet choose Alibaba Cloud?"
So, this time we will introduce the contents of the panel discussion!
What is CEDEC?

CEDEC is an event open to anyone involved in computer entertainment development, research, and related work. It doesn't matter what occupation you're in, what age you are, whether you're a working adult, student, corporation, or individual. In other words, it's worthwhile for anyone involved in game development to participate. By gaining knowledge from sessions, learning about the latest technologies from exhibits, and meeting like-minded engineers at the social gathering, you can enrich your future game development activities
, which recognize developers who have made outstanding achievements, the CEDEC Awardsare also presented.
Sponsored Sessions

In the first half of the event, Mr. Matsui from the Business Planning Division and Mr. Arima, a solutions architect from SB Cloud, took the stage to introduce Alibaba Cloud and the details of its gaming infrastructure
Panel Discussion

The second half of the event was a dialogue-style panel discussion with Mr. Horikoshi, General Manager of Engineering at Mynet, and Mr. Sato from the System Solutions Department at Beyond, covering five themes
1. Why Alibaba Cloud? What system issues did Mynet have?

The challenge after the title transfer is"analysis of the existing infrastructure configuration."
Because Mynet takes over the operation of titles from other companies, it inevitablyinfrastructure with different cloud platforms and design philosophieshas to operate
Mynet's Horikoshi said, "If we continued to operate the system while leaving the configuration as a black box, in the worst case scenario, the service could not continue. Beyond has been extremely cooperative in helping us to convert everything to a white box."
During the analysis process, if the cloud environment has changed dramatically since the title was released, we can design a migration to a more sophisticated configuration, optimizing quality and costs and extending the life of the title
2. Why did you choose Alibaba Cloud instead of the Big 3 cloud providers?

Mynet's Horikoshi says, "Alibaba Cloudthe variety of products it offersis by far the best among the newer players in terms ofterms of cost, the price difference is significant enough that you can still reap the benefits even after migrating your system."
When the system was first introduced, there were some concerns within the company about quality and support
- Since they have a global market share, we believe that quality is guaranteed
- Regarding support, I felt reassured by the support provided by SB Cloud
- He explained that "we were a challenger to the Big 3's on-premise approach."
After going through these steps, they were able to gain understanding within the company
3. First time using Alibaba Cloud. Features and difficulties of Alibaba Cloud that I felt during the construction phase

Beyond Sato: "This was our first time actually using it in a service environment, but it was easier to use than we expected because it was built in a way that was close to the de facto standard for cloud computing. The DTS (Data Transfer Service)significantly reduced the effort and time required for server migration."
4. After using Alibaba Cloud, what are the differences and advantages compared to other cloud services?
Beyond Sato: "It's very stable, andit's no different from other clouds. As with MSPs, the final point of differentiation from other companies isthe support system. Alibaba's collaboration with SB Cloud was extremely helpful in terms of support."
Mynet's Horikoshi: "The costadvantages are significant. In terms of usability, we don't feel much difference in a good way. In other words, it can be used smoothly even when migrating from other clouds."
5. What do you expect from Alibaba Cloud in the future?

Mynet's Horikoshi: "a cost advantage. In addition, we expect further expansion of unique products that are only possible because we're a latecomer. We hope for continued stable operation."
Beyond Sato: "the introduction of services that are not yet available in JapanWe are looking forward toservices that can support data migrationit would be very helpful if there were
Horikoshi and Sato answered questions from SB Cloud, discussing the benefits of Alibaba Cloud and what they hope to see in the future
We would like to thank Mr. Matsui and Mr. Arima from SB Cloud for participating in this session, and Mr. Horikoshi from Mynet for speaking at the panel discussion!
Leave the migration to the cloud to Beyond

As Mynet Horikoshi mentioned earlier, by designing a transition to a more sophisticated structure, it is possible to improve costs and content quality
If you are worried about migrating from an on-premise environment to the cloud, or migrating between clouds, leave it all to Beyond!!
