I tried communicating at a Minecraft in-house social gathering while working from home.
My name is Fujisawa, and I'm in charge of public relations and recruitment, and I'm slacking off as an island creator at Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
How are you all doing telework?
At first, I felt very lonely during my telework life, but after two months, working alone at home became the norm, and I miss the days when I used to talk face-to-face with other members of the company.
Under such circumstances, many people may be feeling confused about how to communicate effectively while working from home.
Therefore, our company held something called "Minecraft internal exchange meeting"
▲There is a Beyond logo “b”
Judging by the results, it was quite interesting.
- The company will pay for the purchase of Minecraft.
- The server was built by our infrastructure engineer (Microsoft Azure)
- You will be given a mission to gather in Minecraft and create a house for each team.
- While being attacked by zombies, your team collects wood and other materials to complete the house within the time limit.
Many of the participants were beginners at Minecraft, and it was my first time playing Minecraft, so I played while being taught how to use it.
▲It's difficult to communicate within Minecraft, so we did it while connecting via Zoom.
The team was divided into Minecraft experts and beginners in a well-balanced manner, and in about an hour they collected wood and stuffed flowers to build a house, hunted pigs and cows for no reason, and before they knew it, they were attacked by zombies. The experiences were completely different from the reality of being in a blackout and being stuck at home.
▲There is no problem even if you get close to each other in the game.
And here is the house my team built!
It's admirable. The flowers are also planted nicely.
Although I was new to Minecraft, I got used to the controls as I progressed, so I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I was able to understand why Minecraft is the second most popular game among children. (Fortnite seems to be in first place)
Minecraft's possibilities are endless
Amid this coronavirus pandemic, there will likely be more opportunities to gather and communicate online.
Our company a company information session in Minecraft, so from now on, it may be possible to go to work in Minecraft...
I think there are many more things you can do in Minecraft other than this, so I'd like to keep trying new things so that I can have an interesting way of working!
