[IoT construction/development] IoT internal project started! 【verification】
This is Ohara from the technical sales department.
At Beyond, we began building and developing IoT services internally as part of the verification stage (PoC) and internal use. we use his IoT platform from
SORACOM to build and develop IoT services (Article as of November 2022)
Overview of IoT platform “SORACOM”
The IoT platform " SORACOM" provides a one-stop supply of IoT devices, communications, applications, etc. necessary to realize IoT. It is used by more than 20,000 customers and companies in all fields in 140 countries and regions around the world.
SORACOM's services have extensive data communication experience in 140 countries and regions around the world, and are used not only in Japan but also in America, Europe, and Asia. The applications of IoT services are wide-ranging, including dynamic management, remote monitoring, social infrastructure, payment terminals, factory visualization, and primary industries (agriculture/fisheries/livestock).
In recent years, there has been an increase in the use of SORACOM not only for B2B applications, but also for incorporating SORACOM into products and services for consumers, mainly startups.
IoT devices purchased from SORACOM
the SORACOM IoT DIY recipes published on SORACOM's official website , you will find examples of building and developing various IoT services. Among them, SORACOM IoT Recipe: IoT Door Opening/Closing Monitoring Development and Construction seemed to be easy, so I purchased the IoT Experience Kit ~Magnetic Sensor~
SORACOM provides detailed documents and manuals that are easy to understand when building and developing IoT services. found it convenient that if I had an IoT device, I could immediately purchase it from the SORACOM user console which is used to build and develop IoT platforms (It arrived in about 3 business days after I ordered it.)
What was achieved using SORACOM
In the end, what kind of IoT service we built and developed using SORACOM is a system that automatically notifies a chat tool (Chatwork) when a piece of mail arrives at the office's collective mailbox.
When there are fewer members in the office due to remote work, when a certain amount of mail is notified, they go to the office's collective mailbox to pick up the mail.
Although I did not try it in this verification (PoC), I felt that it could be applied to cooperation with reception systems.
summary
The construction and development of the IoT service this time was at a level where we wanted to confirm the operation through a preliminary verification (PoC), but depending on how it is used, it may lead to improvements in internal operations.
Next time, we will use SORACOM to build and develop the second IoT service.
