Overview of the IoT platform "SORACOM"

an IoT platformSORACOM , provides a one-stop solution for IoT devices, communication services, and applications necessary to realize IoT. It is used by over 20,000 customers and companies in 140 countries and regions worldwide, across a wide range of sectors.
SORACOM's services have a proven track record of data communications in 140 countries and regions around the world, and are used not only in Japan but also in the United States, Europe, and Asia. IoT services are used for a wide range of purposes, including movement management, remote monitoring, social infrastructure, payment terminals, factory visualization, and primary industries (agriculture, fishing, and livestock farming)
In recent years, SORACOM has not only been used for B2B purposes, but there has also been an increase in the number of cases where it is incorporated into consumer products and services, particularly by startups
IoT devices purchased through SORACOM
published on the official SORACOM website the SORACOM IoT DIY recipes , various examples of building and developing IoT services are available. Among them, the SORACOM IoT recipe: Developing and building a door opening /closing monitoring system using IoT seemed relatively easy, so the IoT Experience Kit - Magnetic Sensor - I purchased
SORACOM provides detailed documentation and manuals for building and developing IoT services, making it very user-friendly. Furthermore, if you have IoT devices, the SORACOM user console , which I found very convenient. (They arrived in about 3 business days after ordering.)
What I was able to do using SORACOM
So what kind of IoT service did we build and develop using SORACOM? It's a system that automatically notifies a chat tool (Chatwork) when mail arrives in the office's shared mailbox
When there are fewer people in the office due to remote work, when a certain amount of mail is notified, people go to the office mailbox to collect their mail
Although we did not try it in this verification (PoC), we felt that it could also be applied to linking with a reception system
summary
The construction and development of this IoT service was at the level of a preliminary verification (PoC) to check its operation, but depending on how it is used, it could also lead to improvements in internal operations
Next time, we will use SORACOM to build and develop our second IoT service
