News from Toronto 🍁 [Credit cards can now be used at TTC! ]
table of contents
Hello from Toronto!
Internal NTP communication is not possible. This is Kawa from the System Solutions Department.
Starting this month, I am actively working on a business trip to the Beyond Canada office.
It's the end of summer here, and everyone is enjoying the summer before it gets cold.
There are quite a few big events happening this month, CNE and
Greek Town , and the weekends are especially exciting in each area.

Preface aside, as the title suggests, last month there was a change in the mayor of Toronto, and
there was news that a new measure would be to allow credit cards to be used on trains and buses running in Toronto.
How will it change?
Starting Tuesday, August 15, 2023 (local time EDT), credit cards will be accepted on TTC transportation systems.
[ Ontario Launching Credit and Debit Payment on TTC ]
Until now, most people used passes or PRESTO cards (such as ICOCA or SUICA), but
(for more information on PRESTO, see
article , you can now just touch your credit/debit card use your smartphone It seems like you will be able to pay with just a touch on your smartwatch app convenient.
The best part is that it will be able to be used not only for TTC but also for other lines such as GO.
Available transit options: GO Transit, UP Express, Brampton Transit, Burlington Transit, Durham Region Transit, Hamilton Street Railway, MiWay (in Mississauga), Oakville Transit and York Region Transit
Fee
Furthermore, as before, there is no additional charge for transfers within 2 hours after touching the ticket gate (buses and street cars are also OK).The
basic adult fare will be a flat rate of $3.30 (Canadian dollars), the same as when paying at PRESTO.
*Please note that various discount rates will still not be applied unless you use PRESTO.
As a bonus, the purchase price for PRESTO was recently reduced from $6 to $4.
Were there many requests?
Since PRESTO was introduced in 2009, it seems that customers have been requesting the use of credit cards for a long time, just like in New York. As expected of a card society.
It seems that it was not introduced for a while, but although the number of users decreased during the coronavirus pandemic, it
seems that the number of users is currently recovering due to post-COVID, and the mayor has changed.
Visit Toronto
For travelers, the TTC is an essential means of transportation for sightseeing in Toronto, and you can buy a PRESTO or use a credit card (after checking the reputation).
I think you can enjoy sightseeing with peace of mind since you don't have to carry cash.
Trains etc.mapAs you can see, it is basically simple with only vertical and horizontal lines 1 and 2 + branching lines 3 and 4. Easy to remember.
(Stops just fine)
If I'm still alive, I'd like to write something about Toronto and Canada again!
See you soon!
