[🍁News from Toronto] Hair Salon Edition ✂✂

Toronto cityscape

Huge hello!

I'm Takoni from the System Solutions Department, and I'm looking forward to winning big and falling in love with casinos

I have been on a business trip to the Beyond Canada office since the end of January, and have (unofficially) taken over the Toronto news from my predecessor

Actually, this is my first time going abroad, so just walking around the city has been shocking in so many ways

This time, while on a business trip to Canada, I decided to take the plunge and get a haircut at a local hair salon in Toronto, so I'd like to share my experience with you!

Let's do our best!

*By the way, the author cannot speak English at all, so the conversations in this blog will only cover the general nuances

Salon introduction

The salon I went to this time was Ivan Hair Salon , located about a three-minute walk from King Station

Ivan Hair Salon exterior

This is the exterior. It has a good old American look and is very stylish

Inside Ivan Hair Salon

Here is the inside of the store. It is a hair salon that has a long history

If you're interested, there's a website, so please take a look

I went there

I decided to just go and check it out, so I went there on a Monday afternoon

I arrived at the hair salon around 1:40pm and could see two hairdressers there through the glass

I made up my mind to go inside the store and greeted the staff with a friendly "Hello."

After a brief greeting like that, I was told to sit on the sofa and wait, so I looked at the other customers while I waited

Seeing that the other customers had hairstyles that suited them well, I felt relieved that this would probably be okay, but then finally it was my turn

* Just to be sure, I researched what to say before hanging up

Below is the conversation at that time

Hairdresser: "Hai! What kind of look do you want?"

Me: "Give me the most popular hairstyle in Canada."

*I was curious about what the most popular ones were, and I thought that if they were the most popular, it wouldn't be that weird

Hairdresser: "Huh? What?"

Me: "Give me the most popular hairstyle in Canada!"

Hairdresser: "Huh? What?"

Me: (I really don't get it at all... but I have no choice but to go for it with passion!)

Me: "Please give me the most popular hairstyle in Canada!!!"

Hairdresser: "Oh, this is the most popular hairstyle in Canada! Leave it to me!"

Me: (Finally got it... Oh, I have to say this!)

Me: "Oh, but I don't want it to be that short."

Hairdresser: "I see, leave it to me!"

Me (Hmm? Can you understand?)

Me: "Um, please don't make it shorter."

The hairdresser kept smiling and saying the same things, and never asked any specific questions, so just as I was about to confirm, he suddenly took out a pair of clippers

Huh, clippers? I guess it didn't get through to me after all? That's what I thought, but the next moment...!

Crunch, crunch, crunch!!

There was a loud noise as my head was being cut off... and right from the root..

It was so satisfying that my request was not accepted. (lol)

The hairdresser was in a good mood as he hummed the clippers. I was sobered by the thought that it had been since middle school that my hair had been cut this short

I knew that this was going to be a big deal, but since my hair had been shaved with clippers, there was nothing I could do about it, so I just watched the hairdresser's performance with a "whatever happens, happens" attitude (lol)

After shaving my hair for a while, the hairdresser snipped the remaining bangs twice with scissors and said with a big smile,

This is OK! It suits you so much!!

*This happened about 10 minutes after I started cutting

Here are the before and after photos:

Me before I cut my hair

↓Me after getting my hair cut (I tried to hide it, but I look desperate)

Me after having my hair cut

What is this... He looks like a middle school student on the sports team... (´;ω;`)

I couldn't really believe this was a trend, so I decided to ask

Me: "Is this the best in Canada?"

Hairdresser: "Of course! It looks great!"

He said this again with a big smile, and I paid the bill in despair

The price including tip was about $30 (about 3,000 yen in Japanese yen). Prices are high in Canada, so this was quite cheap. (Tears of blood)

summary

Summary

If you go to a local hair salon in Canada...
1. Don't go until you can properly communicate your intentions in English.
2. Go prepared for whatever happens.
3. Do your best even if it's difficult.

Please keep these three things in mind. If you think that's impossible, just go to a hair salon where there are Japanese staff!

As an aside, I spoke to someone I work with in the Canadian office and they told me that my hairstyle this time is not popular at all in Canada

What is that(´;ω;`)(´;ω;`)(´;ω;`)

That's it for my experience getting a haircut at a local hair salon in Toronto!

Everyone, please come and check it out!! A new world awaits you!!
