Is this the office? ! Beyond's Shikoku office was more than I expected
I want to be surrounded by nature...
I want to breathe in the delicious air...(?)
When you live in a city for a long time, don't these thoughts cross your mind?
Hello.
This is Goto from the Web Service Division.
As for me, two years have already passed since I left my parents' home in the countryside and started living in Namba.
Namba is a concrete jungle, but as someone who lived there for two years, I have the following impressions:
- Anyway, there is no sense of season (I hardly notice things like autumn leaves)
- The atmosphere is always restless (you could say it's lively)
- There are almost no periods of silence (it feels like 24 hours a day, 365 days a year)
It was like that.
Living in the city, where everything is within walking distance, is so convenient that I may never be able to go back to living in the countryside, but I also feel like I've lost something compared to when I lived in the countryside.
During these days, I decided to visit the Beyond Shikoku office in August 2022.
At that time, I had no way of knowing that I would realize what exactly it was that I had lost while living in the city. .
So, in this article, we will provide you with the following information:
- What kind of environment is working in a satellite office?
- What is it like to live in the countryside?
- What kind of place is Miyoshi City, Tokushima Prefecture?
- What kind of environment is Beyond's Shikoku office?
- Voices from engineers working at Miyoshi's satellite office
Please continue watching!
What kind of environment is a satellite office?
What exactly is a satellite office? I think there are some people who say that.
In fact, so did I. There are quite a few words that you think you know.
From now on, I will be careful not to say things like "attend" or "agenda" without knowing the meaning.
Well, when I asked Google what the meaning of satellite office was, I found out that it is as follows.
A satellite office is an office located away from a company or organization's headquarters.
The name comes from the meaning of an office that exists like a satellite when viewed from the main office.

If you say it's the same, it's the same, but is it basically like a branch office
I was curious, so I did some research and found the following:
Satellite offices are used as work locations according to the convenience and requests of employees, whereas branch offices are used to efficiently carry out sales activities in a specific area by allowing employees to work at a fixed work location by the company. There is a difference.
To summarize, is a place where you can work in a location far away from the head office as if you were working at the head office
Indeed, I think Beyond's Shikoku office is exactly such a place.
Beyond currently has offices in Osaka, Yokohama, Canada, and Shikoku, but all locations are always connected via online conferencing tools, so you can seamlessly connect with members who are away from their locations as needed. You can interact. (Excluding Canada due to time difference)
Since IT companies tend to concentrate in urban areas, satellite offices can be said to be an environment that offers engineers the best of both city and country life.
What kind of place is Miyoshi City, Tokushima Prefecture?
At the beginning, I mentioned that I visited Miyoshi City, Tokushima Prefecture in August 2022, and the reason for that visit "Our Day .
You may be wondering what that is, but an hourcation is a combination of Awa x workation
Roughly speaking, it is a project where you can learn about Tokushima according to a program, and after participating in this program, I fell in love with Tokushima.
During the hourcation, I was able to learn about various aspects of Tokushima.
If you want to know more about Miyoshi City, Tokushima Prefecture, or are interested in the details of the hourcation, please also check out the articles below.
I participated in an hourcation, a journey to explore the possibilities of local business.
I also introduce my hours on my Vlog.

I went to the Beyond Shikoku office
Now comes the main point.
By the way, this time I visited the Shikoku office for the first time during my hourcation.
I was driving to the office.
The scenery along the way had a tourist-like atmosphere that made me keep asking myself, ``Are we heading to the office now?''
▲ Scenery around the Shikoku office ▲
▲ Scenery around Shikoku office 2 ▲
▲ Scenery around Shikoku office 3 ▲
I was seriously doubtful because I sometimes make mistakes in my navigation input and end up going somewhere completely unrelated
I think you're on the wrong track.
``You have arrived at your destination,'' what we saw was an inn.
No, it's an inn. I guess I'm wrong. Check the address again.
I almost opened my smartphone, but when I looked closer, I saw that the inn had a " beyond " logo on it.
Yes, this inn was the Beyond Shikoku office.
Please take a look at the actual exterior of our Shikoku office.
This unexpectedly antique building was the Beyond Shikoku office.
This is the view you can see when you look out from the entrance.
It feels like I'm on a trip.
By the way, the Shikoku office is located in the former Masami Ryokan, and it appears that what was originally an inn is now being used as a satellite office building for several companies. I guess that's what happened after all.
From here, I will take a tour of the former Masami Ryokan for a while. Please keep in touch as I will be posting photos.
This is the view from the entrance.
This is the hallway on the first floor. It's a real inn, but once you open the door, you'll find yourself in a mysterious office space. (good!)
I went out to the courtyard.
It has an atmosphere that makes you forget the midsummer heat.
I'm going up to the second floor.
The view from the stairs. I like the taste, which is a good mix of Japanese and Western.
Pendant lights are also stylish.
The view from the second floor is also nice. It seems to have a bit of a school-like atmosphere.
You can see the best countryside views from your windows. It's soothing.
Now, this is Beyond's office on the second floor. I had only seen it through a screen, but it was like this.
It's sunny and soothing.
Interview! Voices of infrastructure engineers who actually live in Miyoshi
So far, I have introduced the Satellite Office in Miyoshi City, Tokushima Prefecture from my perspective, but what I am more interested in is the opinions of the people who actually work there.
So, we asked Mizusawa, the leader of the Beyond Shikoku office, what it was like working at the Shikoku office and what he thought about it!
▲Yoshihiro Mizusawa Joined Beyond around summer 2020
The following is Mizusawa's comment.
In general, living in the countryside may feel inconvenient compared to the city, but you can get to Kansai in 3.5 hours by express bus or less than 2 hours by train. I have never felt inconvenienced.
It depends on your lifestyle, but there are supermarkets and major convenience stores within walking distance, so personally, I feel like I don't need a car for now. As for restaurants, there are almost no chain stores, but there are many delicious, independently run restaurants. In particular, the stone-oven pizza restaurant Nonno e Nonna is one of my favorite restaurants.
There are still fewer opportunities to meet engineers than in the city center, so I would like to create more opportunities. Although I am online, I often communicate with members of the Osaka office through a screen. Compared to cities, there are fewer opportunities to increase horizontal connections among engineers, so I think you'll need to be proactive here.
Personally, I like the following points about living in Miyoshi.
- You can reach central areas of Shikoku such as Tokushima city, Kagawa, Ehime, and Kochi in a few hours by train.
- Thanks to my relationship with the real estate company I was introduced to, I was able to live in a 2LDK apartment for 35,000 yen (communication costs are free).
- Surrounded by nature, you can live in a quiet environment
- There are plenty of activities that combine nature (rafting is especially fun in the summer season)
What do you think?
Personally, I'm extremely jealous of the low rent (it seems like it was made possible through some luck, so not everyone can live in this price range).
The Beyond Shikoku office was an extraordinary space filled with the charm of country life.
This concludes my introduction to the Beyond Shikoku office.
What did you think?
I have a rural complex because I have lived in the countryside for over 20 years had a charm that made , ``The countryside is so nice after all.''
Not only is the scenery amazing, but I personally loved the atmosphere.
Miyoshi City is very quiet and there is no unnecessary information entering my head, so I felt less tired.
