Multi-cloud Karuta makes studying cloud easier? ?

Points to note:

We are creating multi-cloud karuta, but we are not selling it

Prior commercial use permission is required

Hello, I thought my hay fever was over and I was feeling full of energy,

This is Ken, who is suffering from May blues

There are a lot of different cloud vendors out there. It would be nice if you had the time to try out different ones on a regular basis, but in reality, that's a little difficult

There were similar voices within the company

Person A: " I want to learn more about various ."

Person B: " I want to know more about the service ."

C: " I wish I could learn about the cloud in a more playful way ."

Although you would like to study various things and get hands-on experience, many engineers give up because of : not enough time

The ideal situation would be to be able to learn a lot in a short amount of time while having a game-like experience

Multi-Cloud Karuta " was born

In this blog, I would like to write in some detail about the specific circumstances under which karuta came into being, in chronological order

The story behind the birth of Multi-Cloud Karuta

The impetus for the creation of Multi-Cloud Karuta was an LT tournament held around autumn last year

What is the LT tournament?

The LT competition is what's known as a lightning talk. In the Beyond version, multiple people form a team and come up with ideas to make work in the company easier and more enjoyable. At the end of the event, they have about five minutes to present their ideas in front of everyone

The source of the idea was..

Beyond Business Style

・Beyond is built and operated primarily on the cloud

・Handling various clouds

There are many employees at Beyond who like board games

As proof of this, Beyond has a board game club. You can often see employees playing board games or card games in the break room after work, enjoying themselves after work

Because the majority of our employees are engineers, and thanks to our catchphrase that says you can enjoy the cloud like a game, we decided to start this as a new business

Great job!!!

So, we decided to create a multi-cloud karuta game

After the LT competition, we actually formed a Multi-Cloud Karuta team and started moving forward with the business

With a sense of anticipation and excitement in my heart, I proceeded with the creation, imagining what it would look like when completed

However, various problems have arisen, some of which I would like to list below

① What kind of design would match the combination of karuta and cloud computing?

② How do you think about karuta phrases to make them sound like karuta?

③ How to select a cloud service

It would take an incredibly long time to create karuta cards for all services

What tools can you use to create it?

(We also encountered issues with blurry images and hard-to-read text.)

As I am neither a designer nor a writer, there were so many things I had to think about from scratch, from the design to the karuta phrases and creation tools, so I proceeded step by step, feeling my way through

I don't normally do this kind of work, so I really take my hat off to those who do

However, I was able to feel firsthand that the board games and karuta cards that are available in the world are the culmination of the efforts of these people, and my perspective changed a little

The Karuta is finally complete

I was so moved when the karuta was completed and the finished product arrived safely

When I tried it out at work, I was amazed at how much I could learn about cloud services I had never known about in such a short amount of time, and I was overwhelmed by how much fun it was to learn

summary

"Multi-Cloud Karuta" was created in the hope that studying cloud computing will become a little easier through the LT competition

We hope that more people will continue to enjoy learning about the cloud through karuta within the company

In the next blog, I would like to write about the experience of actually using Multi-Cloud Karuta in a new employee training session!! Please look forward to the next issue!!!
