An in-house photo studio? A story of how employees created a benefit program

Just as many companies enhance their employee benefits to create a comfortable working environment , my company, Beyond, also offers numerous unique benefits, such as an "early departure system for special occasions" and a "siesta system" that allows employees to take a nap during working hours .

Why do engineers who are responsible for the future of the company take naps? [Siesta System]

 

This siesta system is a very attractive employee benefit, but at Beyond, there are even employee benefits created by the employees themselves

That's"Nomushin Shoten".

Why won't Nomusin Shoten go bankrupt even during the coronavirus pandemic?

"Nomushin Shoten" is an in-house food store established by Yuki Nomura (nickname: Nomushin) , a server-side engineer in Beyond's system development department .

Thus, at Beyond,there is an interesting culture where not only does the company provide employee benefits, but employees themselves can also provide employee benefits to the company.

 

Soon after joining Beyond as a mid-career hire, I was inspired by "Nomushin Shoten,"

I thought about various ideas, like, "I'd like to create a company benefit that only I can provide..."

And that's how I startedthe photography studio "Goto Shashinkan" (Goto Photography Studio).

What is the in-house photo studio, Goto Photo Studio?

Goto Photo Studiois an in-house photography studio that I established, having previously worked as a photographer.

At Goto Photo Studio, all employees can have their profile photos taken anytime for external presentations or for use on social media

Furthermore, we offer a wide range of services, including photography for company events and photography required for press releases

Since this is an employee benefit, of course we do not charge any additional fees for photography

At Beyond, our main business is server construction, operation, and maintenance , so we advertise "outsource all your server needs,"

Goto Photo Studio is essentiallyyou can "leave everything related to photography to them.

 

Incidentally, the name "Goto Photo Studio" is undeniably cheesy , but surprisingly, I haven't been able to come up with a more catchy name, so I still operate under the name "Goto Photo Studio."

Since around September 2016, he has gained a wide range of experience, including photographing wedding parties, music events, school events, and architecture

Since May 2017, while working as a director at a design company, he has also learned food photography and product photography (photography of general products) under the direction of the company's president, a food photographer, and has been in charge of many on-site shoots

Since 2018, he has gained a wide range of experience, including fashion photography, salon photography, and artist promotional photography

In this way, I've honed my skills by gaining experience in a wide range of photography fields through my work, and I think I'm quite a valuable asset as an in-house photographer who can easily take photos for clients

So how do you accept reservations?

That's where EDISONE, a reservation system developed and operated in-house by Beyond, comes in handy .

The Edison reservation system is a highly functional reservation system that can be used for a variety of purposes, from clinics and beauty salons to facility rentals and online lessons .

Of course, Edison can also accept reservations for photography sessions intended for in-house use, as in this case

Goto Photo Studio Case Study

"Goto Photo Studio" is an in-house photo studio that I started suddenly, without anyone in the company asking me to do it, but it has already been implemented in several cases

Case 1: Taking a profile photo of the CEO

It is being widely used in external presentations, on social media , and other platforms

Case 2: Taking a profile photo of a public relations and recruitment officer

I was in charge of photographing the public relations and recruitment staff, who could be said to be the "face" of Beyond

Case 3: Taking profile photos for new members

We have also taken profile photos for our 2020 new graduates and employees who joined us mid-career in 2020, as shown below

 

 

In addition to the above examples, I am also responsible for taking photographs in a variety of situations, such as when customers visit our company

[Summary] Future outlook for Goto Photo Studio

For many people, there aren't many opportunities to have professional photography taken

Therefore, I believe the biggest advantage of Goto Photo Studio is that it allows all employees to experience photography in a familiar way, anytime they want

Furthermore, we believe that having many employees possess high-quality profile pictures not only contributes to the company's branding , but also creates opportunities for individuals within the company to thrive beyond the confines of the company

Due to the effects of COVID-19, we are currently refraining from active photography activities, but in the future we hope to make this a great employee benefit that can be used by more employees and those related to employees
