Participated in Linux Server Construction Basics Seminar @Osaka
table of contents
My name is Nakagawa from the System Solutions Department.
attended
Linux Server Construction Basics Seminar hosted by LPI-Japan I am thinking of taking the LPIC Level 2 exam in the near future, so
I attended to reconfirm the preparation for that exam and the basics of building a Linux server.
The mascot, Tux-kun, was lined up at the reception desk.
Seminar content
As with the one I participated in in March was Toru Miyahara of
Biginet Co., Ltd. This time, it was divided into the first and second days, and the one I participated in consisted mainly of classroom lectures.
The main points of the seminar were:
・Installing Linux
・Basic Linux settings
・DNS mechanism and setting method
・Web server mechanism and setting method
・Mail server structure and setting method
Although configuration files that are often used in business have also appeared,
I personally found the explanation of zone files used by DNS servers to be very helpful.
There were a number of situations where I was now convinced that this was how it worked after receiving detailed explanations about the contents of the file, as well as how it was written in the file
This is what the seminar looks like.
After the seminar
After the seminar, I tried building a DNS server and a web server based on the materials,
but it was easier to stick in my head than trying to research the method myself.
As I watched Mr. Miyahara's operations and listened to his explanations, I
was able to clearly see which parts I understood and which parts I didn't.
I can imagine that I would have been preoccupied with just learning the words that appeared in the text, rather than
being interested in the content I came with knowledge and experience, which made it all the more meaningful.
At the end
Due to the number of participants, LPI-Japan will hold seminars mainly in Tokyo, but they
are distributing materials used in past seminars (from 2009 onwards) on their official website.
From how to start learning Linux to how to improve your skills as an engineer,
there are plenty of materials and explanations for those aiming to obtain LPIC levels 1 to 3.
I think it would be easier to understand if I actually participated, but the handouts alone were worth reading.
If you are interested in any of the linked materials, please take a look.
Thank you for reading this far.
