Participated in the Linux Server Construction Basics Seminar @ Osaka

table of contents
My name is Nakagawa and I work in the System Solutions Department.
attended
Linux Server Construction Basics Seminar hosted by LPI-Japan I'm planning to take the LPIC Level 2 exam soon, so
I attended to prepare for that exam and to review the basics of Linux server construction.
The mascot, Tax, was lined up at the reception desk

Seminar Contents
As with the seminar I attended in March was Toru Miyahara of
Biginet Co., Ltd. This time, the seminar was divided into two days, and the one I attended was mainly lecture-based.
The main points of the seminar were as follows:
・Installing Linux
・Basic Linux settings
・DNS mechanism and how to set it up
・Web server mechanism and how to set it up
・Mail server mechanism and how to set it up
The book also covered configuration files that are often used in business, but
personally, the explanation of the zone files used by DNS servers was useful.
Not only was the method of writing information in the files explained in detail,
but there were also many instances where I finally understood how the files worked.

This is what the seminar looked like
After the seminar
After the seminar, I tried to build a DNS server and a web server based on the materials, but
it was easier to remember than if I had tried to figure out how to do it myself.
Watching Miyahara's operations and listening to his explanations made
it clear what I understood and what I didn't.
If I had taken the course last year, I imagine that instead of being interested in the content
, I would have been overwhelmed with just learning the vocabulary that appeared in the text.
Now that I'm back with the knowledge and experience, the course has been much more meaningful.
Conclusion
Due to the number of participants, LPI-Japan will be holding its seminars mainly in Tokyo, but
it is distributing materials used in past seminars (since 2009) on its official website.
There are plenty of materials and explanations for people aiming to acquire LPIC levels 1 to 3,
from how to start learning Linux to how to improve your skills as an engineer. I think you'll gain a deeper understanding if you actually attend, but even just the handouts were worth reading.
If you find any of the linked materials interesting, please take a look.
Thank you for reading this far.
